Debris Sweep on Rt. 219

  Friday December 27th: Alerted to assist EMS with a debris sweep as a result of a auto accident on Rt. 219 at MM41 in Jenner Twp. Rescue 1 checked up. Crew arrived swept the roadway. The rescue was placed in service at 0412hrs.

Flooded Basement

  Monday December 23rd: Dispatched for a flooded basement at 612 Center St in the Borough. Engine 2 arrived to find approximately 2 feet of water in the basement. Crew removed the water and returned to service at 1707hrs.

BVFD finishes out 2013 with Automatic Fire Alarm

  Friday December 27th: Alerted at 0704hrs for a Automatic Fire Alarm at 3598 Whistler Rd. North Star Middle School. District 604. Prior to responding dispatch adivised they received a second call from the alarm company requesting fire dept cancel false alarm.

Storage Shed Fire in Quemahoning Twp

  Friday December 13th: The BVFD was alerted in the morning hours for a reported Structure Fire at 5164 Lincoln Hwy in Quemahoning Twp.  District 604. The Rescue and Tanker responded. E604-1 arrived to find heavy fire coming from a storage unit with a outdoor furnace that was attached fueling the fire. The Fire was contained quickly. The Rescue and Tanker were placed into service at 0420hrs

Smoke Detector Activation

  Wednesday December 11th: The BVFD was dispatched for a Smoke Detector Activation at 400 Ohio St. North Star High School. Dispatch advised that they received a second call from the alarm company advising false alarm requesting the fire dept to cancel.

Traffic Control in place of Jennerstown

  Wednesday December 11th: The BVFD was alerted for Traffic Control in place of Jennerstown at 186 Stemmler Rd in Jenner Twp. Rescue 1 arrived to find a truck stuck on a hill due to hazardous  road conditions. Rescue crew setup traffic until a township truck salted the roadway. The Rescue was placed in service at 1103hrs.

2nd Due Garage Fire

  Monday December 9th: Just before 2100hrs the BVFD was alerted for a Smoke In the Structure at 169 Thomas Rd in Jenner Twp. District 631. The Rescue and Tanker went on the air for the assignment. 631 Chief  arrived upgrading the incident to a working garage fire. The Rescue crew arrived and assisted 631 engine crew with extinguishment and opening up. Tanker 4 was placed in staging. The fire was out within minutes. Crews vented the garage with PPE. Command released all units at 2116hrs.

Requested for Traffic on Rt 30

  Monday December 2nd: Called special call at 0632hrs for Traffic Control to shutdown Rt. 30 at the top of the mountain due to a fatal accident in Ligonier Twp. The rescue had traffic shutdown for approximately 2hrs before being placed into service.

Rescue cancelled on 604 box

  Saturday November 23rd: Alerted for a Chimney Fire with Extension at 3056 Plank Rd. in Quemahoning Twp. The Rescue and Tanker went on the air for the assignment. Crews arrived to find nothing showing exterior. Crews investigated to find negative extension. Command cancelled all units with the exception of 604, and 603 units. The Rescue and Tanker was placed in service at 1954hrs.

Auto Accident involving a Police Cruiser

  Friday November 22nd: Dispatched at 1012hrs for a Auto Accident with Injuries on Penn Ave at Woodstown Hwy. The Rescue, Medic 5, and Amb 6 arrived to find 2 vehicles off the roadway with 2 injuries. Crews checked for fluids, completed a debris sweep, and handled the traffic. Both patients were taken to Conemaugh Hospital for minor injuries. Command placed the rescue in service at 1110hrs.

Reported Basement Fire

  Wednesday November 20th: Alerted just after Midnight for a reported basement fire at 886 Barn St. in Hooversville Borough. Engine 1 and 2 checked up with 10. 614 chief arrived and gave the update of a working fire in the basement. Due to a quick knock by crews the Rescue and Engine were placed in staging and later released, and placed in service.

Multiple Trapped with Fire on Rt 30 

  Monday November 18th: Alerted special call just before 1400hrs for a Landing Zone setup for a Auto Accident involving 2 commercial vehicles, a pick up truck, with multiple victims trapped, and fire on Rt 30 in front of Weyand Signs in Quemahoning Twp. District 604. Medic 5 and The Rescue checked up with 5. 604 command arrived to find 1 coal truck over turned on fire, 1 box truck with 2 pinned and 1 pick up truck partially on the roadway. Dispatch advised that command was now requesting the Rescue to the scene. Crew arrived and got the orders to extuinguish the commercial auto fire, while 603 and 604 crew went to work with the rescue tools to extricate the patients from the box truck.  Crew pulled a 1 3/4 cross lay and the fire contained within minutes. Med Star 1 was placed in the air by Medic 902 for a burn patient that was the driver of the coal truck. Extrication was completed in 18 minutes. Medic 5 transported the driver of the box truck to Conemaugh Hospital. Command advised that the passengar of the box truck was deceased and requested 110 (County Coroner) to the scene. The pick up truck driver was transported to Somerset Hospital by Medic 957. Penn Dot was requested to the scene for clean up of the coal and deisel.  Command placed the Rescue in service at 1538hrs Rt. 30 was shut down for approximately 10hrs. PSP is investigating.

               

2nd accident of the day

  Thursday November 14th: Dispatched just before 7pm for a Auto Accident with Injuries in front of 1717 Blacks Hill Rd in Jenner Twp. Medic 5 and the Rescue went on the air for the assignment. Crews arrived to find a utility pole sheared with high tension lines down on the roadway. Command notified penelec. Medic 5 transported 1 patient to Conemaugh Hospital. The Rescue remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed. PSP is investigating. Command placed the fire department in service.

Auto Accident with Confinement

  Thursday November 14th: Alerted at 0841hrs for a Rollover Accident with Injuries on Rt 219 NB 1 mile North of the Rt 30 Exit. Medic 5 and The Rescue checked up. Medic 5 arrived to find 1 vehicle off the roadway. Liuetenant quickly upgraded to confinement. The Rescue arrived and crew quickly went to work with the tool to pop the door. 1 patient was transported to Conemaugh Hospital. The Rescue secured the vehicle, and handled the leaking fluids. Fire police provided traffic control. The fire department was placed in service 1047hrs.

 

Woods Fire in the 2nd Due

  Sunday November 10th: Dispatched special request for Brush and Rescue on a Woods Fire on Sequanota Rd in Jenner Twp. The Brush and Rescue arrived and assisted with containing the fire. The fire was under control in approximately 40 minutes. Crews then worked the hot spots. The BVFD was placed in service at 1316hrs.

Auto Accident in the Borough

  Wednesday November 6th: Just after 2200hrs the BVFD was alerted for a Auto Accident on Atkinson Way at Quemahoning St. The Rescue, Medic 5 and Amb 6 arrived to find a utility pole sheared. The Vehicle left the scene. Crew remained on the scene until PSP arrived. Command placed the fire department in service.

Early Morning Auto Accident with Ejection

  Thursday October 31st: EMS was alerted in the early morning for a Unconscious Person on a deck at 186 Patrick Rd. Medic 5 responded and came upon a vehicle over the embankment on its roof on Green Bridge near the residence. Medic 5 upgraded the call to a auto accident. Rescue 1 checked up. The vehicle rolled multiple times and the patient was thrown from the vehicle approximately 100ft. Medic 5 transported the patient to Conemaugh Hospital. The Rescue provided lighting for PSP and remained on the scene until towing service removed the vehicle. The Rescue was placed in service at 0414hrs. PSP is investigating.

                                     

Auto Accident Penn Ave at Lincoln Hwy

  Tuesday October 29th: Dispatched at 1100hrs for a Auto Accident with unknown injuries on Penn Ave at Lincoln Hwy. The Rescue Medic 5 arrived to find 2 vehicle off the roadway. Rescue crew handled the fluids and traffic. Medic 5 handled the patient refusals. The BVFD was placed in service at 1152hrs.

Fatal Trap with Fire

  Tuesday October 22nd: Around lunch time the BVFD was alerted for a Rollover Accident with Entrapment and Fire on Keysertown Rd. at Willison Rd. in Jenner Twp. District 606. Rescue 1 and Brush 3 went on the air for the assignment. Crews arrived confirmed the vehicle over the embankment in a creek, and a working fire in the passenger compartment. Once crews had the fire knocked down, it was determined that a body was still in the pick up truck. Due to run off from the fire and fluids leaking from the vehicle in the creek, crew used multiple absorbent pads and made a underflow damn to contain the fluids. The BVFD was placed in service at 1250hrs. PSP is investigating.

                                          

Rescue heads South for RIT Assignment

   Monday October 23rd: Dispatched at 1454hrs for a RIT Assignment at 520 Sipesville Rd. in Lincoln Twp. District 607. Rescue 1 hit the street with 6. Due to a quick knockdown by 607, the rescue crew was placed in service at 1544hrs.

Electrical Fire

  Wednesday October 16th: Alerted at 0730hrs for a Electrical Fire at 224 Mexico St. in the Borough. Engine 2 arrived to find a outlet melted to the wall. Crew shut off the breaker and pulled the outlet. Crew checked the residence for extension, and got negative readings. Engine 2 wad placed in service.

Box off for the 3rd time

  Tuesday October 8th: As the day was winding down the box alarm was struck at 2131hrs for a House Fire at 2768 Penn Ave. in the Township. Engine 2, Rescue 1, and Tanker 4 hit the street. Engine 2 was notified by dispatch, that the house was unoccupied, and that it had burned twice last year. Engine 2 arrived to find a working fire. Command advised that a defensive attack was in affect. A fill site was setup on Penn Ave at Woodstown Hwy. Tanker operations were in affect, command requested additional tankers from 607 (Sipesville) to the scene. Crews had the fire contained in approximately 45 minutes. Overhaul Operations were performed. PSP Fire Marshal was notified and ruled the fire arson. The BVFD was placed in service at 0012hrs. Jennerstown, Acosta, Jerome, Sipesville, and Richland Twp assisted.

                                     

Auto Fire in the Borough

  Tuesday October 8th: At 0123hrs the BVFD was alerted for a Auto Fire at 503 Main St. in the Borough. Rescue 1 checked up and arrived to find fire in the engine compartment.  Crew pulled a 1 3/4 hand line and had the fire extinguished within minutes. The fire was contained to the engine compartment. The Rescue was placed in service at 0207hrs.

1st Due Trailer Fire

  Wednesday October 2nd: Just after 1530hrs Somerset 911 hit the box alarm for a Trailer Fire at 619 Center St in the Borough. Engine 2, and Rescue 1 checked up. Engine 2 arrived to find smoke showing. Engine crew entered the trailer on Charlie side of the structure. Crew completed a primary search where a dog was found a bedroom in distress with smoke inhalation. Crew had knockdown within minutes. EMS crew placed a pet rescue oxygen mask on the dog from Stoystown Fire Dept. The dog was taken to a vet in Somerset. Crews completed a extensive overhaul operations and vented the structure. Command placed the box in service at 1656hrs. A PSP Fire Marshal was called in to investigate, and it was ruled arson.

        

Debris Sweep

  Sunday September 29th: Dispatched at 1040hrs for glass on the roadway on Rt. 219 NB at MM 36. Rescue 1 responded and handled the incident. The Rescue was placed in service at 1126hrs

Motorcycle Accident on Lincoln Hwy

  Sunday September 22nd: Dispatched at 1439hrs for a Motorcycle Accident on Rt. 30 West of Rt. 219. Engine 1, 2, and Amb 6 all hit the street. Crews arrived to find 1 motorcycle on the roadway with 1 patient. EMS requested a helicopter, Engine 2 went to the LZ. EMS cancelled the helicopter and transported by ground to Conemaugh Hospital. Crews handled the traffic until the motorcycle was removed. Command placed units in service at 1507hrs.

BVFD has 3 call day

  Saturday September 21st: The day started off with a tree down at 1413hrs on Woodstown Hwy at Commonwealth Rd. Rescue 1 checked up. The Rescue arrived to find a Large tree hanging low on guide wires. Due to the positioning of the tree it was to dangerous for the fire dept to handle. Penelec was notified. The rescue cleared while fire police remained for traffic. The Rescue just returned to station as the bells dropped again for Smoke in the Structure at 2000 Penn Ave in Conemaugh Twp. Engine 2 and Tanker 4 went on the air for the assignment. 631 Engine arrived to find the source coming from a malfunctioning furnace. Engine crew vented the structure with PPV. 605 units were placed in service by 631 Command. At 1905hrs the bells dropped for the 3rd time of the day for a 3rd due Structure Fire at 739 Barn St. Hooversville Borough. Engine 2 checked up but was later cancelled by 614 command.

Auto Fire Rt. 219 NB

 Wednesday September 10th: The bells dropped early Wednesday morning for a Auto Fire on Rt. 219 NB just before the Rt. 30 exit. The Rescue checked up with 5. Crews arrived confirmed working fire in the passenger compartment. Crews had a knock within minutes. The State Police are investigating. Command placed the rescue in service at 0445hrs.

                   

Crews run over 31 incidents in 18 hours

 Wednesday August 26: The day started off at 0330hrs with people trapped in a vehicle at Penn Ave at Atkinson Way due to the roadway being flooded. After that the incidents came faster than we could handle. The BVFD ran over 31 flooding related incidents in 18hrs! A big thank you to Jennerstown, Sipesville, Acosta fire depts and the Somerset County EMA for the help today. It was a long day but we remain committed to serve out first due. Another big thank to all of the community members that brought us meals and beverages. It was greatly appreciated.

1 Trapped on Rt 30

  Tuesday August 21st: The BVFD was alerted just before 1300hrs for a Auto Accident with Entrapment Rt. 30 just East of Rt. 219. Rescue 1 and Amb 5 checked up with 9. EMS arrived confirmed the trap and requested the helicopter be placed in the air. Command requested Sta. 604(Stoystown) be dispatched to handle the landing zone. Crew quickly went to work with the rescue tools, taking the driver side door, and rolling the dash within 12 minutes. 1 patient was flown to Conemaugh Hospital in serious condition. Auto Accident on Green Bridge Rd

  Tuesday August 13th: The BVFD was dispatched for a Auto Accident with Injury on Green Bridge Rd in Jenner Twp. Rescue 1 and Amb 5 checked up with 8. Crews arrived to find 1 vehicle off the roadway into a tree. Crew secured the auto and assisted EMS with extrication. 1 patient was transported to Conemaugh Hospital by EMS. Command placed the Fire Department in service at 1706hrs.

             

Back to Back days running storm related incidents

  Thursday August 8th: For the second day in a row heavy rains hit the Northern part of Somerset County sending the BVFD on multiple flooded roadways and flooded basements. The BVFD was alerted at 1913hrs and all units were placed in service at  2130hrs.

                                      

Crews run multiple storm related incidents

  Wednesday August 7th: As a strong storm struck Northern Somerset County the BVFD was alerted for Multiple storm related calls. The first being a water rescue at the intersection of Penn Ave and Atkinson Way. Rescue 1, Brush 3, and Captain Huzsek responded. Crews arrived to find most of the vehicle submerged by water. Crews quickly went to work gearing up in wet suits to enter the water and free the patient from the vehicle. Extrication from the water was complete within 13 minutes. Crews remained busy with a AFA and 2 flooded basements through out the evening. The BVFD was clear from all incidents at 2120hrs.

                                     

Tire Fire in the Township

  Tuesday August 6th: Dispatched at 1721hrs for a Tire Fire on Haines Rd in Quemahoning Township. Brush 3, Engine 2, and Tanker 4 all checked up. Brush 3 arrived to find 3 tires well off. 605 LT held the incident to the Engine and Brush. The Fire was knocked down within minutes. The BVFD was placed in service at 1750hrs.

Auto Accident Rt. 30 at Rt. 219

  Thursday July 25th: Dispatched just before 10am for a Auto Accident at the intersection of Rt. 30 and Rt. 219. The Rescue and Amb 5 checked up. Crews arrived to find 2 cars involved on the roadway. Crew secured the autos and handled the traffic. EMS transported 1 to Conemaugh Hospital. The Rescue was placed in service at 1031hrs.

Zoo Crew runs 2nd Due Garage Fire

  Saturday July 20th: The house bells dropped at 1610hrs for a Garage Fire at 680 Gilbert Hollow Rd. in Jenner Twp. The Engine, Rescue, and Tanker all checked up. Crews arrived to find a large garage well off. Engine and Rescue crew went to work knocking down the fire and opening up. Once the fire was knocked down, extensive overhaul operations were done. The BVFD was placed in service at 1702hrs.

Tree Down on Woodstown Hwy

  Wednesday July 17th: Dispatched at 1629hrs for a Tree Down on Woodstown Hwy in Jenner Twp. Rescue 1 responded. Crew arrived to find a tree blocking the roadway. Crew cut and removed the tree from the roadway. The rescue was placed in service at 1705hrs.

Vehicle Fire Rt. 219

  Monday July 15th: Dispatched for a Vehicle Fire on Rt 219 North of Rt 30. in Jenner Twp. Rescue 1 responded fully staffed. 631 crew arrived advised it was in there area. They handled the incident. The Rescue was placed in service.

Tree Down on Green Bridge Rd

  Thursday July 11th: Notified at the station around 0130am for a Tree Down on Green Bridge Rd. in Jenner Twp. The rescue handled the incident.

Engine runs North to the 31 Box

  Friday July 5th: Alerted to Assist Jerome Fire Dept. (Sta.631) with a Automatic Fire Alarm at 170 Phillips St Jerome, Country Manor Living. Engine 2 hit the street. The Engine arrived and was later released by 631 Command. Engine 2 was placed in service.

Auto Accident with Confinement

  Tuesday July 1st: Dispatched at 1354hrs  for a Auto Accident on Rt 219 NB 2 miles south of the Jerome exit Jenner Twp. Dispatch quickly upgraded the call to Entrapment. Rescue 1 and Ambul 5 checked up. EMS arrived to find 1 vehicle over the embankment with 1 person confined. The Rescue crew arrived and quickly went to work with the rescue tools to extricate the person. EMS transported 1 patient to Conemaugh Hospital. Crew remained on the scene until towing service removed the vehicle. Jerome Fire Dept Assisted. Command placed the incident in service at 1547hrs.

                           

Engines and Tanker head East for 604 Box

  Tuesday June 18th: Alerted at 1613hrs for Smoke in the Structure at 139 Quemahoning St. Stoystown Borough. Engine 1(Lt Revak), Engine 2(FF Ohler) and Tanker 4(Chief Bendick) checked up. 604 chief arrived and cancelled all units. Units were placed in service at 1621hrs.

AFA in the Township

  Tuesday June 18th: Dispatched at 1550hrs for a Automatic Fire Alarm at 155 Rose Rd in Jenner Twp. Engine 2(FF Ohler),  and  A605-5 checked up. 605 Lt. arrived to find nothing showing. Crews checked the structure, and nothing was found. Command placed the fire department in service at 1606hrs.

1 Trapped on Penn Ave

  Saturday June 8th: The house bells dropped at 2135hrs for a Auto Accident with Entrapment on Penn Ave North of the Borough in the Construction Zone. Rescue 1(LT Revak), Engine 2(FF Snyder) and Ambul 5 checked up. A605-5 arrived to find ...1 vehicle into a excavator and confirmed entrapment. Rescue 1 arrived and quickly went to work stabilizing the vehicle and setting up the tools for extrication. Extrication was complete within 7 minutes. Crew removed the drivers side door to safely remove the patient. EMS transported 1 patient to Conemaugh Hospital. Crews handled the debris sweep and fluids. Command placed the incident in service at 2236hrs.

                      

The Rescue runs Auto Accident in Ferrellton

  Monday June 3rd: The BVFD was alerted at 1941hrs for a Auto Accident at the intersection of Rt 30 and Penn Ave. Rescue 1 and Amb 5 checked up with 5. Crews arrived to find 1 vehicle on the roadway. Crews secured the autos and handled the traffic. EMS handled the patient refusals. The BVFD was placed in service at 2016hrs.

Pole and Wires Down

  Monday June 3rd: Dispatched at 9:30am for Pole and Wires Down in the area of 522 Pilltown Rd. in Jenner Twp. Rescue 1 responded with 5. Crews arrived notified the power company and the Rescue was placed in service. Fire Police remained on the scene and provided traffic.

AFA in the Borough

  Saturday June 1st: Around lunch time the BVFD was alerted for a Automatic Fire Alarm at 417 Main St. in the Borough. Prior to responding dispatch advised false alarm requesting fire department to cancel.

Early morning Auto Accident

  Friday May 17th: Dispatched just before 8am for a Auto Accident Penn Ave at Atkinson Way in the Borough. Rescue 1 and Amb 5 checked up. Crews arrived to find 2 vehicles on the roadway. Rescue crew secured the autos and handled the leaking fluids. Neither drivers were injured. The BVFD was placed in service at 8:53am.

                                         

Trailer Fire in the 1st Due

 Tuesday May 7th: Dispatched just before 7pm for a Structure Fire at 701 Quemahoning St. in the Borough. E605-2, E605-1, and T605-4 all checked up within minutes. 605 FP1 arrived advised working fire on the porch. E605-1 arrived, crew had knockdown within minutes. All units were cancelled by command. Crew checked for extension and were placed in service at 1948hrs. The source was a turkey fryer that exploded on the porch.

Smoke Detector Activation

  Tuesday May 7th: The Bells dropped around 0747hrs for a Smoke Detector Activation at 400 Ohio St, North Star High School. Prior to responding dispatch advised they received a second call from the school reporting accidental.

Minor Auto Accident

 Wednesday May 1st: Dispatched at 1930hrs for a Auto Accident on Penn Ave in front of the Cougar Mini Mart. R605-1(T. Revak) and A605-5 checked up with 6. The Rescue arrived to find 1 vehicle on the roadway. Crew secured the auto and handled the leaking fluids. EMS handled the patient refusal. The BVFD was placed in service at 2013hrs.

  Tuesday April 16th: Just before 10pm the BVFD was alerted for a Tree Down on Penn Ave at Golf Course Rd. Rescue 1 and Brush 3 handled the incident. Units were in service at 2220hrs.

Smoke Detector Activation

 Saturday April 13th: Dispatched for a Smoke Detector Activation at 155 Rose Rd in Jenner Twp. Prior to responding dispatch advised it was a false alarm and homeowner requests FD to cancel.

Reported Auto Accident on Rt. 219

  Sunday March 31st: Alerted for a Auto Accident on Rt. 219 North of Rt. 30. Rescue 1 and Amb 6 responded. Crews checked the area and nothing was found. All units were placed in service.

Engine Rescue and Tanker go to Stoystown on House Fire

 Sunday March 31st:  Just before 1100hrs the house bells dropped to assist 604 (Stoystown) with a House Fire at 3948 Lincoln Hwy in Quemahoning Twp. Engine 2(Asst. Sopich) Rescue 1(FF Lane) and Tanker 4(Asst. Revak) checked up with 10. Crews arrived and quickly went to work assisting 604 crew with an aggressive interior attack. Tanker 4 supplied E604-1. Once the crews had the fire under control extensive overhaul was performed. The BVFD was placed in service at 1315hrs.

Engine and Rescue run 631 Box

  Thursday March 28th: Dispatched at 2230hrs to assist 631 (Jerome) on a Chimney Fire at 117 N Main St. Davidsville. Engine 1(FF Ohler) and Engine 2(FF Jordan) checked up with 10. 631 Command staged the BVFD. Command released the BVFD at 2300hrs.

Tanker 4 heads North

  Sunday March 24th: Special request for Tanker 4 to assist 616(Scalp Level) with a Barn Fire at 533 Ridge Rd. Pain Twp. Tanker 4(LT Revak) hit the street. E616-8 arrived and cancelled all units. Tanker 4 was placed in service.

 Reported Chimney Explosion in the Township

  Friday March 22nd: Dispatched just after 8pm for a Chimney Explosion at 204 Alpine Rd, in Jenner Twp. District 606. Rescue 1(LT Revak) and Engine 2(Captain Huzsek) checked up with 10. Enroute command advised all units to stage on Laurel Summit Rd. Command later released all units. The BVFD was placed in service.

1st Due Box

  Friday March 22nd:  The house bells dropped just after 0230hrs for a Structure Fire at 2590 Lincoln Hwy, Jenner Twp. Peformance 1 Trucking. Engine 2(Chief Bendick) and Rescue 1(FF Ash) hit the street with 10. Engine 2 arrived to find... the fire in the alpha delta side of the office trailer at the business. With quick work of the engine crew the fire was knocked down within minutes. Once the fire was under control extensive overhaul operations were performed. Command placed the BVFD in service at 0405hrs.

  Wednesday March 20th: Dispatched at 8am for a Automatic Fire Alarm at 2288 Lincoln Hwy, Jenner Twp. Prior to responding dispatch advised that there was a second call from the alarm company requesting fire department to cancel false alarm.

Minor Auto Accident

  Friday March 8th: At 8pm the BVFD was dispatched for a Auto Accident in front of 222 Main St in the Borough. Rescue 1 and A605-6 responded. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle that struck 3 parked cars. The Rescue was placed in service and EMS handled the refusal.

Fatal Crash on Lincoln Hwy

  Tuesday February 26th: Just before 1800hrs the bells dropped for a Auto Accident with Injuries in front of 3242 Lincoln Hwy, Quemahoning Twp. Rescue 1(Captain Huzsek), Brush 3(LT Revak) and Amb 6 checked up with 10. Dispatched advised that there was a fire chief on scene reporting 1 injury and 1 fatality. The Rescue requested Sta 604 (Stoystown) be dispatched to shut down Lincoln Hwy at Horner Church Rd while 605 crew shut it down at Randolph Rd on the west side. Crews arrived confirmed the fatality, secured the autos and assisted EMS with patient care. EMS transported 1 patient to Conemaugh Hospital. Crews remained on the scene for several hours while PSP reconstruction team investigated with Lincoln Highway remaining shut down. 110(County Coroner) arrived the patient was extricated from the vehicle. Vehicles were removed from the roadway and the BVFD was placed in service.

                       

Barn Fire District 604

  Monday February 25th: Just after 7am the BVFD was alerted for a Barn Fire at 220 Darr Rd. Quemahoning Twp. District 604. Rescue 1 (Chief Bendick) and Tanker 4 (FF Snyder) checked up with 6. Units were cancelled enroute by 604 Command.

Odor Investigation

  Saturday February 23rd: at 2135hrs the dispatch sent the alert for a Odor Investigation at The Cougar Mini Mart, 208 Atkinson Way. Boswell Boro. Engine 2 (Captain Huzsek) checked up with 6. Dispatch advised that the employees could smell something burning in the store. Crew arrived, and after investigation the source was found to be coming from a malfunctioning cooler. The BVFD was placed in service at 2350hrs.

  Friday February 15th: Just after lunch time the BVFD was dispatched for a Auto Accident at the intersection of Rt. 30 and Penn Ave. Rescue 1(Chief Bendick) and Amb 605-6 hit the street with 6. Crews arrived to find 2 vehicles on the roadway with 1 injury. Crew secured the autos and established traffic. EMS transported 1 patient to Somerset Hospital. The Rescue was placed in service at 1339hrs.

                                         

BVFD stays busy with 1st Due House Fire

  Tuesday February 12th: At 0130hrs the BVFD was alerted for a 1st due house fire at 136 White Tail Ln in Quemahoning Twp. Engine 2(Chief Bendick), Tanker 4(Asst Revak), and Brush 3(FF Smith) checked up with 10. Engine 2 arr...ived on the scene reporting working Fire. 605 Chief had the command. Engine Crew and 604 crews went to work attacking the fire. A tanker shuttle was setup to supply E605-2. E608-1 handled the fill site. R3-1 had RIT, T3-1assisted with suppression and overhaul. 2 propane tanks in the rear of the structure made things difficult for crews due to it feeding the fire but exterior crew kept them in check. Once the fire was under control extensive overhaul operations were performed. The BVFD was placed in service at 0425hrs. Departments assisting were Stoystown, Sipesville, Jennerstown, Acosta, and Richland Twp.

                    

Zoo Crew due for 614 Box

 Sunday February 10th: Just before 1500hrs the house bells dropped for a Structure Fire at 151 Somerset St, Hooversville Borough. Rescue 1(LT Revak) and Engine 2(FF Snyder) hit the street with 9. The rescue arrived to find the house well involved. A front bumper hand line was deployed off the rescue and taken to the rear of the structure. Both the engine and rescue crew went to work with an exterior attack until the fire was under control enough for an interior attack. The rescue was supplied by T614-4. Once the fire was knocked down crews did extensive overhaul. The BVFD was placed in service at 1802hrs.

Another RIT Assignment in the 607 Box

  Thursday February 7th: At 2347hrs the house bells dropped for a RIT Assignment at 329 Emert Rd in Lincoln Twp. District 607. Rescue 1(Asst Sopich) checked up with 5. Dispatch advised that command requested Tanker 4 to the fire scene as well. Tanker 4 (Chief Bendick hit the street with 4. The Rescue arrived and supplied E607-4. RIT crew stood by. Tanker 4 was not needed and later released. The BVFD was placed in service at 0337hrs.

  Tuesday February 4th: Dispatched at 1834hrs for a Auto Accident at the intersection of Rt. 30 at Rt. 219. Rescue 1(Asst Sopich), and Amb 5 checked up with 9. The rescue arrived to find 2 vehicles on the roadway. Crew secured the autos, handled the fluids, and debris sweep. EMS handled the patient refusals. The BVFD was placed in service at 1934hrs.

                                    

Auto Accident on the East Side

  Monday February 4th: At 1633 the house bells dropped for Smoke in the Building at 100 W Main St. Stoystown Borough. Rescue 1(Asst Sopich), Engine 2(Chief Bendick) checked up with 10. Enroute dispatch advised that there was an Auto Accident in District 604 on Rt. 30 at Stonebridge Hill and we were to divert. 605 EMS was also requested bringing A605-5, and A605-6. Rescue 1 arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway into a tree. Patient was self extricated. A605-6 handled the patient refusal. Crew setup traffic. The BVFD was placed in service at 1804hrs.

                                             

RIT Assignment in the 607 Box

 Monday February 4th: Just before noon today communications sent out the dispatch for a RIT Assignment at 2218 Keysertown Rd in Lincoln Twp. Rescue 1(LT Revak) hit the street with 4. Crew arrived and got the order to stage on the alpha side of the structure. Rescue crew was on the scene for approximately 2hrs before being released by command.

Tree Down

  Wednesday January 30th: As strong winds and rain came through the area the BVFD was alerted for a Tree Down on Rt. 30 at Haines Rd. Rescue 1(LT Revak) and Ambul 6 checked up with 8. The Rescue arrived to find the tree removed from the roadway. The Rescue placed the incident in service.

Broken Water Line in a Residence

  Tuesday January 29th: At 2121hrs the BVFD was alerted for a flooded basement at 122 Water St. in Jenners. Engine 2 (FF Wain) and Brush 3(Engineer Bendick) checked up with 6. Crew arrived to find a broken water line in the basement, the twp supervisors were notified to shut the water off to the residence. Crew removed the water and the units were placed in service.

Search Detail in Jennerstown

  Monday January 28th: Just after 1300hrs the BVFD was alerted for a Search Detail assisting PSP, and Jennerstown Fire for a male in his 50's who left his house sunday evening on a snowmobile and never returned. Ambul 6 and Brush 3 assisted on the search and were unsuccessful. Both units were placed in service.

Disabled Tractor Trailer on Rt. 30

  Friday January 25th: As the snow continued to fall friday evening the BVFD was alerted for a Disabled Tractor Trailer on Rt. 30 East of 219.  Brush 3, Ambul 6 and FP1 handled the incident.

Snowy roads sends vehicle into ditch

  Friday January 25th: The BVFD was notified of a auto in a ditch, Top of Main St. in the Township. Rescue 1(LT Revak) and Ambul 6 responded. Crew arrived setup traffic and notified dispatch for a towing service. Towing service removed the vehicle and the Rescue was placed in service at 1456hrs.

Accident Penn Ave North

  Thursday January 24th: The BVFD was dispatched at 2114hrs for a Single Vehicle into a Tree, Penn Ave at Blue Spruce Lane in the Borough. Rescue 1(LT Revak) and Ambul 6 checked up with 6. Units arrived to find a pick up truck into a tree partially on the roadway, the single occupant of the vehicle was self extricated. Crew secured the auto and handled the traffic. Patient refused EMS. The Rescue was in service at  2230hrs.

                    

Rescue runs early morning Crash on 219

  Thursday January 24th: at 0211hrs the BVFD was alerted for a Auto Accident in the Median, Rt. 219 North near the Quemahoning Bridges. Rescue 1 and Ambul 6 hit the street. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle in the median. Crew secured the auto and extricated the patient, patient refused EMS. PSP took the driver into custody. Units were placed in service at 0443hrs.

  Wednesday January 23rd: The BVFD was dispatched for a Rollover Accident Rt. 219 North in the Median. Rescue 1(LT Revak) and Ambul 6 checked up with 5. Crews arrived to find accident in district 631. Crew remained on the scene until R631 arrived and was later released.

                  

Chimney Fire in the 2nd Due

  Tuesday January 22nd: at 0144hrs the BVFD was alerted for a Chimney Fire at 407 Miller Rd. in Jenner Twp. District 606. Engine 2(Asst Sopich) checked up with 4. The engine was 2nd in crew assisted with extuinguishing the fire in the flue. Crew found the source to be a rusted pipe to the flue. Crews ventilated the structure and engine 2 was in service at 0253hrs.

Odor of Natural Gas in the Residence

  Wednesday January 16th: At 1923hrs the BVFD was dispatched for an Odor of Natural Gas in the Structure at 627 Kircher Placei in the Borough. Engine 2(Captain Huzsek) hit the street with 5. Crew arrived to find normal conditions in the structure. PSP was notified. Engine 2 remained on the scene until a represenative from the housing authority arrived. Command then placed the Engine in service.

Reported Auto Accident with Entrapment

  Tuesday January 8th: At 1111hrs the BVFD was alerted for a Auto Accident with Entrapment in front 5054 Front St. Jenners. Rescue 1(LT Revak) and Ambul 6 checked up with 8. Captain Huzsek arrived to find 1 vehicle over the embankment, negative entrapment, and the patient to be in cardiac arrest. Crew extricated the patient and was in the care of EMS. The patient was pronounced dead at the scene. Rescue was placed in service by command. Fire Police remained on the scene for traffic until PSP was completed with their investigation.

  Tuesday January 8th: This morning in the frigid tempatures the BVFD was dispatched for a Auto Accident, Penn Ave South of the Borough. Rescue 1(LT Revak) and Ambul 6 checked up with 6. The rescue arrived to find 1 vehicle on the roadway and 1 off. EMS transported both drivers to the hospital for minor injuries. Crew handled the debris sweep and traffic.   Friday January 4th: This afternoon the BVFD was dispatched a Auto Accident on Rt. 219 NB just South of the Rt. 30 Exit. Rescue 1(Capt. Huzsek) and Ambul 6 checked up with 6. Crews arrived to find 1 vehicle on its roof in the median. 1 patient refused EMS treatment. Crew secured the vehicle and checked for fluids leaking. Command placed the rescue in service at 1518hrs.
