Vehicle on its side on New Years Eve

  Thursday December 31st 15:52HRS: Dispatched with Medic 640-1 for a Vehicle Accident on Main St. at the Old BJ Maurer Site. Ambul 6, and Rescue 1 responded. Crew found nothing at that location. Crews found the accident to be a 1/2 a mile from RT. 30 on Main St. 1 full sized pick up truck on its side off the roadway. Driver of the truck was self extricated and refused treatment. Medic 640-1 was cancelled and Ambul 6 handled the refusal. Rescue 1 and Fire Police handled the traffic until towing service removed vehicle. PSP assisted at the scene. All units were in service at 11:35HRS.   605-102

 

Engine 3-3 Stands by at the ZOO

 

 On Monday December 28th The Richland Township Fire Dept brought there new Sutphen Engine 3-3 to stand by in our Station to protect our First Due.  Engine 2 and Ambul 5 and several BVFD firefighters were out of the area at the Funeral of Lifetime Member Nicholas R Shields. A Special Thanks goes out to the RTFD for staffing an Engine for standby!

CO Alarm in the Borough

  Sunday December 20th 12:24HRS:  Dispatched by Somerset 911 to a CO alarm with no symptoms at 1169 Atkinson Way. Engine 605-2 responded followed by Ambul 605-6. Units arrived on scene to find the home owner in his front yard stated that the alarm does this all the time and that there was no need for the Fire Dept to be there. Home owner refused to let FD in the building. All units were in service at 12:35:05 hrs. 605-101

Vehicles Collide on Ralphton Rd.

 Sunday December 20th 08:52HRS: Dispatched by Somerset 911 to a Motor Vehicle Crash possible injury. Ambulance 605-5 responded followed by Rescue 605-1. Found two vehicles and three patients on scene moderate damage to both vehicles.One patient was transported to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown. Fire Dept did traffic control till tow service arrived. All units were in service 10:14:27 hrs. 605-100 

Vehicle on It's Roof Just South of the Que Bridge

  Sunday December 13th 08:35HRS: Dispatched by Somerset 911 for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries on RT 219 South of the Quemahoning Bridge. Medic 902(Stoystown) and Medic 950(Somerset) were also dispatched to assist. Ambul 605-5 respoonded first followed by Ambul 605-6 and Rescue 605-1. Found two vehicles involved but they were two separate crashes. First vehicle slid on the wet roadway hit the embankment but had no injuries. This vehicle had minor damage. In the second crash  the vehicle lost control and rolled at least one time. This vehicle had severe damage to the front end and had both airbags deployed. Both Patients were self extricated.  Medic 902 Transported one and Ambul 605-5 transported the second patient. Both were transported to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown. Firefighters did traffic control till Herrings towed the vehicle to Somerset. PSP is investigating.  All units were in service at 09:41:00 hrs.  605-99 

   

Another "Flooded Basement"

  Sunday December 13th 00:30HRS: Dispatched for a Flooded Basement at 217 Main St, in the Borough. Personnel responded direct to find no water in the basement but the incident being pipes mysteriously leaking on the second floor of the apartment building. PSP was requested and is investigating. All 605 personnel were in service at 00:59HRS.  605-98

Flooded Basement

  Friday December 11th 17:37HRS: Dispatched for a Flooded Basement at 213 Main St. in the Borough. Engine 2 responded and arrived to find a small amount of water in the basement. Crew was unable to do anything due to the small amount of water. Engine 2 returned to service.   605-97

First Snow sends Crews to 219 for a Rollover with Minor Confinement

  Saturday December 5th 12:40HRS: Dispatched with Medic 950 and Medic 640 for a Vehicle Rolled over with one patient still inside the vehicle on SR 219 South Bound just South of the Quemahoning Bridges. Rescue 1, Ambul 5 and 6 responded. Crews arrived to find 1 SUV rolled over off the road on its passengar side. The driver was self extricated. Crews quickly went to work by taking the windshield out to extricate the passanger. Both patients were refusing treatment. Medical Command advised to transport patients. Medic 640-1 was released. Both patients were transported to Somerset Hospital in 605-6 with Medic 950. Fire Police handled the traffic. Rescue 1 cleared the scene when towing service removed the vehicle. PSP is investigating. Crews were in service at 13:37HRS.   605-96

   

Wires Down in Ralphton

  Thursday December 3rd 06:37HRS: Dispatched for Wires Down in front of 133 2 Mile Run Rd. in Jenner Twp. Rescue 1 and Brush 3 responded and arrived to find a cable wire down on the roadway. Crew rolled up the wire and removed it from the roadway and contacted the cable company. Both units were in service at 07:04HRS.    605-95

Accident on Penn Ave Transports 2 & 608 Does not Cancel after being told to

 

  Tuesday December 1st 20:07HRS: Dispatched with Medic 950 for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Penn Ave at the Ralphton Rd. intersection Jenner Township. 605-5,6 and Rescue 1 responded. Acosta (Sta.608) was dispatched due to the accident being South of Rt. 30. Ambul 5 held 608 in station. 608 did not listen and responded anyway. Ambul 5 arrived to find 1 vehicle off the roadway with patients self extricated. 608 was cancelled 3x and still came into the scene . 605 EMS along with Medic 950 attended to the patients and transported both to Conemaugh Hospital. Crews were in service at 20:46HRS. PSP is investigating.   605-94

Smoke in a Structure in Jerome

   Sunday November 29th 14:11HRS: Dispatched to assist Jerome (Sta. 631) with a Smoke in a Structure at 138 Somerset Ave. Jerome. Engine 2, Rescue 1, Tanker 4 and Ambul 5 responded. 631 interior crew found a small fire on Division 2 in a closet. Crew had extinguished the fire with a water can. 605 crew assisted with negative pressure ventilation. CT PD was requested to the scene to investigate the fire. 605 Crews were released by 631 Command and returned to service.   605-93

   Friday November 27th 11:04HRS: Dispatched for a Automatic Fire Alarm at 400 Ohio St. North Star High School. 605 Chief responded and arrived to find a false alarm.   605-92

Tanker 4 responds to Ideal on Porch Fire

   Monday November 16th 02:20HRS: Special Request for Tanker 4 to Ideal on a Porch Fire at 2647 Somerset Pike, Johnstown. Tanker 4 responded and got the orders to stage on Somerset Pike. Tanker 4 was not needed at the scene and was in service at 03:12HRS.   605-91

Building Collapse with 1 Trapped in the Borough

  Sunday November 15th 15:56HRS: Dispatched with Medic 950 (Somerset Ambulance) for a Building Collapse with 1 Person Trapped on Susquehanna St. in the Borough. Ambul 5, Rescue 1, and Engine 2 reponded. Units arrived to find the incident to be behind 3rd Alley. Crew found patient already to be extricated from the collapsed garage by bystanders who heard the victim yelling for help. Ambul 5 transported patient with Medic 950 to Conemaugh Hospital for Moderate injurys.  Rescue and Engine crew were in service at 16:36HRS.   605-90

  Tuesday November 10th 05:06HRS: Dispatched for a Paint Can on Fire on the door step of 200 Main St. in the Borough. Prior to responding dispatch advised second call advised to cancell fire out.   605-89

AFA at Country Manor Living (Drill)

  Monday November 9th 13:35HRS: Dispatched to assist Jerome (Sta. 631) with an Automatic Fire Alarm Drill at 150 Phillips St. Country Manor Living. Engine 2, Engine 1, and Ambul 6 responded. Crew arrived to find all occupants evacuated from the building. Crews did primary and secondary searches of the building. Crews then debriefed after the incident in case of a real emergency. All 605 units returned to service.   605-88

Cancelled on AFA in Stoystown

  Monday November 2nd 08:03HRS: Dispatched to assist Stoystown (604) with an Automatic Fire Alarm at Boswell Medical Assoc. on Pine St. in Stoystown Borough. 604 Chief responded and advised to hold all units in station. Boswell, Friedens and Hooversville were later cancelled.   605-87

Tree Down

  Friday October 30th 08:13HRS: Dispatched for a tree down on Greenbridge Rd. in Jenner Township. Rescue 1 responded and arrived to find a large tree blocking the roadway. Crew contacted Penn Dot and they brought down a front end loader to remove the tree from the roadway. Rescue 1 returned to service at 09:20HRS.  605-86

  

Fire Department Assists EMS with a Lift

Saturday October 24th 03:37: Dispatched by Somerset per request by 605 EMS for a Lift assist at a Boswell address. 605 Fire Department Personnel responded direct and assisted with lifting. All 605 units were in service at 05:39HRS. 605-85

Deer vs Jeep on 219

  Friday October 23rd 18:08HRS: Jerome (631) was Dispatched for a Deer vs Jeep on Rt. 219, 2 miles North of Jerome Exit. E631-1 responded and arrived along with 605 personnel to find the accident  in our First Due, 1 mile north of Rt. 30. 605 was dispatched which brought Rescue 1 and Ambul 5 to the scene. 1 patient was transported from the scene by Ambul 5 to Conemaugh Hospital for her injuries. Rescue 1 returned to service. PSP assisted at the scene.   605-84

 

First in on 2nd Due Barn Fire

  Sunday October 18th 06:09HRS:  Dispatched on the first alarm assignment to assist Jennerstown (606) with a Working Barn Fire on Fetteroff Rd. in Jenner Twp. Rescue 1, Engine 2, Tanker 4, and Ambul 5 responded fully staffed within seconds of the activation. Res1cue was the first  unit on the scene, with 606 Asst.1 being the first confirming a fully involved barn fire. 605 Personnel assisted with knockdown using multiple hoselines from 606, setup of  Porta Tank, and overhaul operation. Boswell, Acosta, and Sipesville asissted Jennerstown. All crews were in service at 08:28HRS.    605-83

    

    

     

Intoxicated Individual Sends his Vehicle into the Woods

  Saturday October 3rd 03:25HRS Recieved multiple reports from people stopping at our station for a Vehicle Accident into the woods off of Main Street near Route 30. Two 605 firefighters responded direct and confirmed this. Requested activation for lighting assist to make sure no one was in the vehicle. 605-5 Responded followed by Res1cue. Arrived on scene and confirmed no one was in the vehicle. 605 units assisted with traffic control untill the vehicle was towed. All crews were in service at 04:09HRS.  605-82

Tree Down

  Monday September 28th 23:22HRS: Dispatched for a Tree Down on Ralphton Rd. near Watkins Chevorlet. Rescue 1 responded and arrived to find a tree partially blocking the roadway. Crew cut up the tree and removed it from roadway. Rescue 1 was in service at 23:34HRS.   605-81

Vehicle Fire on Rt. 219 turns out to be nothing

  Friday September 25th 15:49HRS: Dispatched for a Vehicle Fire on Rt. 219 North of Rt. 30 near Mile Post 41. Rescue 1 and Engine 2 responded. Crews found nothing in the area. All units returned to service at 15:59HRS.   605-80

Tree House on Fire in the Borough

  Tuesday September 22nd 19:44HRS: Dispatched for a Tree House on fire behind 630 Mississippi St. in the Borough. Rescue 1, Engine 2, and Brush 3 responded. Brush 3 arrived to find a working tree house fire. Crew pulled a 1" 3/4 trash line off R-1 to extuinguish the fire. Crew had the fire extuinguished within 5 minutes. All units were in service at 20:27HRS.   605-79

     

Trap Job in the Second Due

  Sunday September 20th 07:39HRS:  Dispatched by Somerset 911 for a Vehicle Accident with  Entapment on Rt 601 just outside the Jerome and Jenner Township line. Ambul 605-5 responded first, followed by  Res1cue and Eng2ine. Arrived on scene to find one peson trapped in the vehicle, and the guard rail broken and swung out onto the roadway. 631(Jerome)  popped the door and 605 assisted with extrication on a KED. Pt transported by 640(Conemaugh Township). 605 assisted with cleanup. All units were in service at 08:43HRS.  605-78

Debris on the Roadway

Saturday September 19th 14:54HRS: Dispatched by Somerset 911 for  a debris sweep as result of a vehicle accident with no injuries. Ambul 605-5 responded first followed by Rescue 605-1 and Ambul 605-5. Units arrived on scene to find no injuries. 605-1 handled the debris on the roadway and all units were in service at 16:13 HRS. 605-77

Rescue 1  assists 605-5 on Landing Zone

  Wednesday September 16th 18:47HRS: Dispatched EMS with Medic 950  for a person who had fallen off a horse across from 537 Keyser Rd. in a field in Jenner Twp. Prior to responding Dispatch advised that Med Star 1 was placed on standby. Ambul 5 arrived on scene and found patient to be 250-300 yards off the road in a field.  Crew requested Med Star to be placed in the air. Rescue 1 was the ground contact for Med Star. Med Star 1 landed and lifted safetly. Crews were in service at 19:44HRS.   605-76

1 Transported from Accident in the Borough

  Wednesday September 16th 15:47HRS: Dispatched with Medic 950 (Somerset Ambulance) for a Vehicle Accident with injuries on Penn Ave. in front of Fleegles Garage in the Borough. Ambul 5 and Rescue 1 responded. Crews arrived to find 1 patient injured sitting on a back off the side of the road. Rescue crew and  Fire Police setup traffic control. Patient was transported to Conemaugh Hospital where she was treated for her injuries. Rescue Crew remained on the scene until PSP was finished with their investigation. All units were in service at  16:58HRS.    605-75

Smoke Investigation near Watkin's Chevrolet

 Thursday September 10th 16:19HRS: Dispatched for a Smoke Investigation near Watkin's Chevrolet off of Route 30. Rescue 1 and Engine 2 responded. Smoke was found to be a controlled burn. All units in service at 16:31HRS.    605-74

Motorcycle Vs. Car at 219 and 30

 Sunday September 6th 11:42HRS:  Dispatched for an MVA no injuries at 219 and 30. Rescue 1, Brush 3, Ambul 5, Ambul 6, and Technician 11 responded and found a motorcycle and car involved. Engine Crew contained leaking fluids and handled traffic control with fire police. Technician 11 handled 4 Patient refusals. Vehicles were removed from the roadway and all 605 units were in service at 12:16HRS. PSP assissted on scene. 605-73

Tree Down near the Green Bridge

 Sunday August 30th 23:47HRS: Dispatched for a tree down just before the Bridge on Green Bridge RD . Rescue 1 responded along with Ambul 5. A large tree was cut up and removed from the road. Units were in service at 00:10hrs. 605-72

Smells and Bells at the Hite House in Stoystown

 Friday August 28th 08:38HRS: Dispatched to assist Stoystown Fire with a fire alarm at the Hite House in Stoystown.  All units were cancelled prior to response due to a false alarm.    605-71

Room off in a 2nd Due Camp Office

  Wednesday August 19th 22:53HRS: Dispatched to the 2nd Due for a Structure Fire at Pine Springs Camp in Jenner Township. Engine 2 and Tanker 4 responded. Engine crew got the assignment to send our man power to the front door and to back up the initial attack crew. Crews had the fire knocked down within 5 minutes. Tanker 4 staged on Pine Springs Camp Rd and was not needed. Crews began the veniting with hydraulic ventilation out a window. Crew then setup positive pressure ventilation to remove the smoke and heat from the building.  606 Command released all units with the exception of 605 and Sta. 43 Ligioner. Ligioner stood by in Sta. 606. Engine 2 and Tanker 4 were later relased by 606 Command. There was minimal damage to the structure. All units were in service at 23:22hrs. Boswell, Sipesville, Acosta, Jerome, and Ligioner assisted Jennerstown.    605-70

   

Water Rescue on Laurel Summit Rd

  Sunday August 16th 17:52HRS: Dispatched to assist Jennerstown (Sta. 606) with a water rescue on Laurel Summit Rd. Prior to responding crews were cancelled due to the incident being in Westmorland County.    605-69

Minor Fuel Spill at Jenner Rod and Gun Club

  Wednesday August 12th 12:25HRS: Contacted by the Jenner Rod and Gun Club that there was fuel spilled out side the club. Engine 2 and Brush 3 responded and arrived to find small amount of diesel that ran down the side of the road. Crew placed absorbant on the diesel. Crew returned to service at 12:59HRS.   605-68

1 transported from Minor Accident at 219 and 30

  Tuesday July 21st 16:47HRS: Dispatched for a Minor Vehicle Accident with no injuries Traffic Control only at Rt. 219 and Rt. 30. Engine 2 and Ambul 5 responded and arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles on the roadway. Ambul 5 had a minor on scene and transported patient to Somerset Hospital for minor injuries. Engine crew and Fire Police handled the traffic. Crew returned to service after towing service removed vehicles from roadway. All units were in service at 17:48. PSP assisted at the scene.    605-67

  Monday July 20th 10:45HRS: Dispatched to Assist Jerome Sta. 631 with a Barn Fire on Hostetler Rd. in Jerome. Engine 2 responded and was cancelled enroute by 631 Chief on scene advising controlled dump fire. Engine 2 was in service at 10:56HRS.   605-66

Zoo Crew responds to another Arson Fire in Jenner Twp

  Monday July 20th 00:26HRS: Dispatched to Assist Jennerstown Sta. 606 on another Abanden House Fire on Beahm Church Rd. Engine 2, Tanker 4, and Ambul 6 responded. Engine 2 was notified by dispatch that there was a working fire at that location and it was spreading to a nearby garage. 606 Asst. 1 arrived on scene confirming working fire. Engine 2 arrived and attack crew made entry through charlie side of the structure to find spot fire on division 1 and 2. Crews had the fire extuinguished within minutes. E608-1 tagged a nearby hydrant. Engine crew along with 606 crew found rags on division 2 soaked with some sort of fuel. PSP and the PSP Fire Marshall was requested to the scene. The abanden house was a murder scene just 2 days prior to the fire. The fire is ruled arson. All units with the exception of Engine 2 and 606 units were released from the scene by 606 Asst. 1. Engine 2 was later released and returned to service at 01:35HRS.  Boswell, Sipesville, and Acosta assisted Jennerstown.    605-65

Animal Rescue assisting Jerome

  Saturday July 18th 12:57HRS: Dispatched to assist Jerome Sta 631 on a Animal Rescue at 2909 Jerome Hill Rd. in Conemaugh Twp. Engine 2 and Ambul 6 responded and arrived on scene to find a horse stuck in a mud pit. Engine crew used the winch and webbing to help free the horse from the mud pit. Crews extricated the horse in approximately 1hr and 15minutes. Great work by both crews to free the horse. Units were in service at 14:05HRS.    605-64

   

    

1st Due Vacant House Fire is ruled Arson

  Saturday July 18th 03:42HRS: Dispatched for an Abanden House Fire at 201 Cessna Hill Rd. in the Borough. Engine 2, Tanker 4, Brush 3 and Ambul 6 responded. Engine 2 was notified by dispatch that the house was abanden and it was a working fire. Engine 2 arrived to find the front of the house lit off. Crew pulled the blitz fire  and a 2" speed lay and quickly went to work. Crew had knockdown in 15 minutes. Crews made an interior attack to check for extension and overhaul. Crews found no extension. Richland Twp Rapid Intervention Team staged on Cessna Hill and was not needed. Crews laddered delta side of the structure. Tanker 4 connected to Engine 2 to supply them with water. All fire units were staged at Orenda Park just off Rt. 601 and their personell were sent to the scene. The Fire Marshall was contacted. The fire is ruled arson. Stoystown, Jennerstown, Acosta, Jerome, Richland Twp for Rapid Intervention assisted at the scene. All 605 units were in service at 05:34HRS.     605-63

AFA at Church turns into Smoke in the Structure

   Friday July 17th 03:43HRS: Dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at Christian Community Church on Rt. at 2610 Lincoln Highway in the 1st Due. Engine 2, Brush 3, Tanker 4 and Ambul 5 responded.  Engine 2 arrived on scene to find smoke showing from an addition at the rear of the church. 605 LT. quickly contacted dispatch and upgraded to a Structure Fire and to start the first alarm. Crew made an interior attack through the back door to find smoke lingering in the building. Crew found access to loft and found the fire smoldering around an air conditioning unit. Crew quickly began pulling down the ceiling  to extuinguish the smoldering fire with a 2" hand line.  Engine crew setup positive pressure ventilation in the rear to remove the smoke.  Crews had the smoldering fire extuinguished within 20 minutes.  Crews began overhauling all the insulation that was pulled from the ceiling into garbage cans and taken outside. Crews were then released by Command.  Stoystown, Jennerstown, Acosta, Jerome, and Richland Township for Rapid Intervention. The Fire was rulled electrical. All 605 units were in service at 05:35HRS.    605-62

   

   

Engine responds to 2nd Due House Fire on Somerset Pike

   Wednesday July 15th 15:29HRS: Dispatched for a Structure Fire at 8937 Somerset Pike assisting Acosta (608). Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to find heavy smoke but no fire showing.  We were directed to send two firefighters to stand by at the charlie side door of the structure. Firefighter Smith and Firefighter Venzon took this assignment. While standing by Firefighter Venzon was instructed by  605 Asst 1 to go with him to check for possible hotspots. Firefighter Smith was instructed to assist the basement crew. Asst  1 and Firefighter Venzon found no hot spots in division 1 the structure. The basement crew extinguished the fire in the basement and the structure was ventilated. Crews were in service at 16:57HRS. Boswell, Sipesville, and Jennerstown assisted Acosta.     605-61

Field Fire in the First Due

  Tuesday July 14th 16:43HRS: Dispatched for a Field Fire in the area of Rolling Hill Rd. Brush 3, Engine 2, and Tanker 4 responded. Brush 3 arrived on scene to find a large field on fire with a fully involved hay baler in the middle of the field. The fire was moving rapidly due to wind. Crews began raking the hay back into the fire to try and contain it. The brush crew quickly pulled a booster line and drove around the fire while spraying to better contain it. Assisting departments (Jennerstown and Jerome) assisted with man power and extinguished the machinery that was on fire. Crews contained the fire to just the field. Crews were in service at 1746HRS.    605-60

    

Crews respond to Quemahoning Dam Rd. for a reported Crash

  Sunday July 12th 20:12HRS: Dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident with no injuries on Quemahoning Dam Rd. near Green Bridge Rd. Engine 2 and Ambul 5 responded. While responding the location was updated to Quemahoning Dam Rd. near Mastillo Rd.  Responding units split up and checked Quemahoning Dam Rd., Mastillo Rd., Pilltown Rd., and Green Bridge Rd. with no accident found. Engine 2 and Ambul 5 were in Service at 20:40HRS.    605-59

ZOO Crew goes to Jerome for another House Fire

  Sunday July 5th 00:16HRS: Dispatched for a structure fire on Thomas Road in Jerome. Dispatch advised that the house is vacant prior to responding. Engine 2, Tanker 4 and Brush 3 responded. E631-1 arrived on scene and advised working fire 1st and 2nd division. Engine got the orders to tag a hydrant at the dairy and lay into the scene. Crews set up an engine relay from a tanker fill site nearby for water supply and pulled 3, 2 inch attack lines and made an interior attack and made a quick knock down. Crews then opened the walls to extinguish extension. Fire was ruled an arson by the State police Fire Marshall as the house had all utilities disconnected.  Jerome was assisted by Boswell, Hollsopple, Conemaugh Township, and Richland Township as well as tankers from Boswell, Jennerstown, Stoystown and Richland Township. Engine 2, Tanker 4 and Brush 3 were in service at 02:43HRS.    605-58

Special Request for Tanker 4 to Listie on Barn Fire

  Saturday July 4th 22:37HRS: Dispatched to assist Listie Sta. 602 for a Working Barn Fire at 183 Phillipi Rd. in Somerset Twp. Tanker 4 responded. Tanker 4 arrived on scene and was staged by 602 Command. Tanker 4 was later released.  Tanker 4 was in service at 23:55HRS.   605-57

Motorcycle vs Car with Entrapment on Rt. 30

  Saturday June 27th 14:50HRS: Dispatched with Medic 902 and Medic 950 for a Motorcycle vs Car  with on Rt. 30 at the Rt 219 off Ramp. Ambul 6, Engine 2, and Brush 3 responded. Ambul 6 was advised that there was one patient trapped under the car. Med Star 1 was placed on standby. Crews arrived to find no entrapment. Patient is laying beside the car, and the operator of the motorcycle was walking around the scene. Crews immobilized both patients. Medic 902 and Ambul 5 with Medic 950 transported patients to Conemaugh Hospital.  Refuslas were done on both occupants in the car that were uninjured. Minor Accident on  Rt. 601 at Rt. 30

  Monday June 22nd 17:40HRS: Dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident at the Intersection of Rt. 30 and Rt. 601. 605 Asst 1 responded direct arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles on the roadway. Engine 2, Brush 3, Ambul 5, and Ambul 6 responded. Crews arrived to find 2 injuries on scene. Ambul 5 & 6 each transported 1 patient BLS to Somerset Hospital for Minor Injuries. Both vehicles were traveling south bound when a Chrysler convertable rear ended a Chevy pick up truck. The driver of the Chrysler refused treatment by EMS, and was transported by PSP to Somerset Hospital for blood tests.  Fire police setup traffic control. Engine crew removed debris from the roadway. Engine crew remained on the scene until towing service removed vehicles from roadway. Engine 2, and Brush 3 were in service at 18:14HRS.  PSP is investigating.      605-55

Crew from the ZOO finds work in Jerome Again

  Tuesday June 16th 04:23HRS: Dispatched with Jerome (Sta. 631) for a Structure Fire at 171 Oak St. in Jerome. Prior to responding dispatch advised that patrol was on scene advising working fire. Engine 2, Brush 3, and Tanker 4 responded. Engine 2 arrived on scene to find heavy fire blowing out bravo side of the structure. E 631-1 had already tagged a hydrant at the intersection of School Ave. and Oak St.  Engine crew got the orders to advance a hose line into the basement of the structure. Engine crew pulled a 2" handline into the basement and knocked down the fire. Tanker 4 arrived and supplied Engine 2 with water. Interior Crew noticed that part of the floor was gone on division 1 bravo charlie side. Crews laddered all 4 sides of the structure.  Crews then made entry into division 1 with extreme caution to find heavy smoke and fire in division 1 and 2. Crew found no floor on division 2 bravo charlie side. A second 2" handline was pulled of Engine 2 and was advanced to the bravo charlie side. Crews then vented the roof. Crews setup positive pressure ventilation in the front door. Crews the got onto the porch roof to extuinguish fire on alpha delta side division 2 due to the stairwell being unsafe. Crews extuinguished the fire within 2hrs. Crews then went to work overhauling. PSP fire marshal was contacted to investigate. PSP fire marshall rulled the fire accidental.  Boswell, Richland Twp, Ideal, Conemaugh Twp, Hollsopple, Conemaugh Twp EMS, and Conemaugh TWP PD assisted. All 605 units were in service at 07:34HRS.    605-54

Engine Crew is first on scene in the 2nd Due

  Thursday June 11th 03:39HRS: Dispatched to the 2nd Due for a reported Strucure Fire at 125 W W Fritz Lane, in Jenner Twp. Engine 2, Brush 3, and Tanker 4 were first on the road. Engine 2 was the first in Engine to find a single trailer with heavy smoke showing Side A of the structure.  Engine crew quickly pulled a 2" handline and advanced it into the front door side A. Crews ran into several obstacles of debris while making entry into Side A. A second handline was pulled off the front bumper of E2 and advanced into Side A.  606 Crew also had a hand line in the back door Side C. Tanker 4 connected to Engine 2 to supply them with water. Pemelec shut off the power to the trailer. E608-1 tagged a hydrant, and  setup a fill site on Rt. 30. Crews setup ventilation positive pressure and negative pressure to remove smoke from the trailer. After about 30 minutes of extuinguishment crews began overhauling all the debri from inside. Crews were on scene for about 2hrs. All units were in service at 05:37. The cause of the fire was ruled electrical. Boswell, Sipesville, and Acosta assisted Jennerstown.     605-53

Crew Responds to Fuel Spill in Jenners

  Tuesday June 9th 17:22HRS: Dispatched for a possible oil spill in a creek at the bridge on Church St. in Jenners. Engine 2 and Brush 3 responded. Enroute Engine 2 put the Team 601 (Haz-Mat) on standby. Engine 2 arrived on scene to find some type of fuel skimmering in the creek. The Team 601 was then requested to the scene. Engine crew placed booms into the water to keep the fuel from traveling any further down stream. Haz-Mat 1 arrived and placed more booms in the water upstream and found the source,  where the fuel was coming from. DEP was notified and responded to the scene. Haz-Mat 1 was released from the scene. All units were in service at 19:12.    605-51

   

Crew from the ZOO finds work in Jerome

  Friday May 29th 02:57HRS: Dispatched to the 2nd Due for a Smoke in the Structure at 133 School Ave. in Jerome. Engine 2 with 7, and  Brush 3 with 2 responded. Dispatched upgraded the call to a working fire enroute. Engine 2 being the second Engine in got the orders to tag the hydrant on School Ave. and supply E631-1. Upon our arrival E631-1 had already tagged the hydrant at that location. Engine crew made entry into the rear of the structure to find heavy smoke conditions inside. Crews searched division 1, the Subdivision, and the Loft to find no fire. Crews then found the fire smoldering in the walls on Delta side of the structure. Crews did quick work of opening the walls with hand tools to extuignuish the smoldering fire.  Crews setup positive pressure ventilation in the front door to remove the smoke. Penelec was requested to the scene to shut off the power to the structure. Crews had the fire extuinguished in little over an hour.  Assisting on scene was Boswell, Richland for RIT, Ideal, Hollsopple, Conemaugh Twp, Conemaugh Twp EMS, and Conemaugh Township PD. PSP Fire Marshall ruled the fire undetermined. Engine 2 and Brush 3 were in service at 05:04HRS.   605-50

Minor Accident on 219

   Thursday May 28th 21:30HRS: Dispatched  with Medic 640 for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Rt. 219 North Bound just passed the twin bridges. Ambul 5, Ambul 6, Engine 2 and Brush 3 responded. Ambul 5 arrived on scene to find 1 SUV in the South Bound Lane with minor damage to the front end. 605 LT. cancelled all other incoming units due to patient refusing treatment, and the SUV on the birm off the roadway. Vehicle lost control due to wet roadways traveling across the median into the south bound lane. PSP assisted at the scene. All units were in service at 21:51HRS.    605-49

Working Box Truck Fire in the 2nd Due

  Thursday May 21st 17:54HRS: Dispatched for a Vehicle Fire on Rt. 219 North Bound just North of the Rt. 30 exit. Engine 2, Brush 3, and Tanker 4 responded. Crews were advised by Somerset 911 that they recieved multiple calls advising the fire is at the Jerome Exit. Jerome Fire Dept. was then dispatched. 605 FP 1 arrived on the scene first to find a working fire. E631-1 arrived and pulled a hand line. Crews worked for approximately 20 minutes until the fire was extuinguished. All units were in service at 19:38HRS.   605-48

Vehicle into a field on Rose Rd

  Sunday May 10th 06:02HRS: Dispatched for a Vehicle Accident, 1 vehicle into a field with unknown injuries in front of 368 Rose Rd. in Jenner Twp with Medic 640-1 in place of Medic 950. 605 Commander responded direct. Engine 2 and Ambul 5 aslo responded. Commander arrived on scene to find 1 SUV off the roadway in a field with the driver slumped over the wheel sleeping. Crew woke the driver up and he states that he fell asleep and ended up in the very wet field which sunk his SUV to the axle. Patient is uninjured. Commander cancelled 640-1. Engine crew returned to service. Ambul remained on scene until PSP arrived. PSP is investigating. All units were in service at 06:38HRS.   605-46

 

Car on its side in the 1st Due

  Saturday May 9th 03:15HRS: Dispatched for a Vehicle Accident on Rt 219, North of Rt. 30 in Jenner Twp. Engine 2 and Ambul 5 responded. Crews arrived to find 1 car on its side with the driver self extricated. Ambul 5 transported patient BLS to Windber ER. Engine 2 removed the debris from the roadway, and remained on the scene until towing service removed vehicle from roadway. PSP is investigating. Crew was in service at 04:36HRS.   605-45

 

Smoke in a Structure in the Borough

  Sunday May 3rd 22:16HRS: Dispatched for Smoke in a Structure at 231 Mississippi St. in Boswell Borough. Engine 2, Tanker 4, and Brush 3 responded. Engine 2 arrived on scene to find nothing showing Bravo side of the structure. Upon entering the structure engine crew was notified by the homeowner that her hot water tank was smoking. Crew shut the gas and killed the braker to the hot water tank. Engine 2 cancelled all incoming units. All units were in service at 22:51.   605-44

Unknown Type Fire Turns Into Control Burn Again

  Saturday May 2nd 21:20HRS: Dispatched for an Unknown Type Fire behind Boswell Heights in the woods. Brush 3 responded. 605 LT. held all units in station. Brush 3 arrived on scene to find a homeowner on greenbridge that has camp fire in their back yard. Brush 3 notified dispatch that it was a control burn and returned to service at 21:26HRS.   605-42

2nd Due Brush Fire in Jenner Twp

  Sunday April 26th 15:24HRS: Dispatched to assist Jennerstown with a Brush Fire in the area of Klines Mill Rd. Jennerstown crews were sent to the top of the mountain on the initial dispatch and were unable to locate the fire. An aircraft spotted the fire and advised the 911 center of the location. Brush 3 and Engine 2 responded. Brush 3 arrived on scene first and located the fire on Wonderland Trail Rd on State Game Lands. Brush 3 advised all other units on the exact location. Crews immediately went to work extuinguishing the fire. The fire started from a homeowner burning leaves.  Brush 3 and Engine 2 were in service in at 17:07HRS. Boswell, Sipesville, and Acosta assisted Jennerstown.   605-40

  

Traffic Control on Rt. 30 at Rt. 219

  Monday April 20th 14:54HRS: Dispatched for Traffic Control as a result of a vehicle Accident on Rt. 30 at Rt 219 intersection. Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to 2 vehicles on the roadway with moderate damage, and debris on the roadway. Crew cleaned up the debri and setup traffic control until vehicles were removed from roadway by towing service. There were no injuries. PSP assisted at the scene. Engine 2 returned to service at 15:52HRS.   605-39

Minor Confinement on 601

  Saturday April 18th 06:56HRS: Dispatched for a Single Vehicle Accident with Entrapment on Rt. 601 near Gaurdian Blvd. Ambul 5, 6 and Engine 2 responded. Ambul 5 arrived on scene to find 1 pick up truck sideways in the north bound lane. Engine crew quickly setup the holmatro rescue tools and went to work extricating the patient. Ambul 604-4 responded with Medic 640-1 to assist. Crew had the patient extrciated within 10 minutes. Patient was placed in the back of 605-5 for transport with a Medic from 640 to Conemaugh Hospital for evaluation.  Patient states she was trying to change the radio station when she lost control of the truck hitting a tree broadside. Engine crew remained on the scene until towing service removed car from roadway. PSP is investigating.  Engine 2 was in service at 07:51HRS.    605-38

Gas Spill On Rt. 30

  Tuesday April 14th 15:13HRS: Dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with no injuries and Gas Spill on Rt. 30 just East of  Rt. 219. Ambul 5 and Engine 2 responded to arrive on scene to find a cavalier off the roadway with approximately 15 gallons of gas on the roadway. The car struck a piece of metal on the roadway that punctured the gas tank. Crew placed oil dry to obsorb the gas. Crew remained on the scene until towing service removed car from roadway. PSP is investigating. Engine crew returned to service at 16:03HRS.   605-36

Snow Storm Causes Accident On Rt. 219

  Wednesday April 8th 02:30HRS: Dispatched for Motor Vehicle Accident on Rt. 219 North of Rt. 30 in the North Bound Lane. Engine 2 and Ambul 5 responded. Crew drove North to the Conemaugh Twp. line not finding anything. Crews then turned around and headed South. Crew then found 1 vehicle on its roof in the North Bound Lane just South of Rt. 30. Engine crew handled traffic control. Driver of the vehicle was self extricated and uninjured.  Ambul 5 returned to service. Engine 2 remained on the scene until towing service removed SUV from roadway. Engine 2 was in service 03:50HRS. PSP assisted at the scene.   605-35

  

Puppy Stuck In A Pipe

  Tuesday April 7th 18:06HRS: Dispatched for a Physical Rescue (Puppy Stuck in a Pipe) at 253 Greenbridge Rd. in Jenner Twp. Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to find a puppy stuck in a pipe. Crew extricated the pupppy from the pipe within 10 minutes with the puppy being unharmed. Engine crew returned to service at 18:23.       605-34

  Saturday April 4th 06:54HRS: Dispatched for tree and wires down on Mastillo Rd. in Jenner Twp. Brush 3 responded and arrived on scene to find wires down. Crew gave dispatch the pole number. Crew removed tree from roadway and waited for Penelec to arrive and returned to service.  605-33

Shed Fire in the 2nd Due

  Thursday April 2nd 15:04HRS: Dispatched for a Shed Fire on Jill Renee Dr. in Jennerstown Borough. Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to find heavy fire and smoke pouring out of the shed. 606 Crew pulled a line and quickly knocked down the fire. Engine crew assisted them. Engine crew was released by 606 Asst. 1. Engine 2 returned to service at 15:22HRS.   605-32

Brush Fire in the Borough

  Monday March 23rd 13:40HRS: Dispatched for a Brush Fire, at 612 Third Alley in the Borough. Brush 3 and Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to find a small fire as a result of the homeowrner burning garbage to close the woods. Crew pulled a booster line and quickly extinguished the fire. Units were in service at 14:04.   605-31

  

Field Fire Assisting Sipesville

   Sunday March 22nd 15:05HRS: Dispatched to assist Sipesville with a large field fire on Schoolhouse Rd. in Lincoln Twp. Brush 3, Tanker 4, and Engine 2 responded. Brush 3 arrived on scene to find a large field fire that was spreading rapidly and was advised by 607 Captain to meet him at the back of the field due to a structure in danger.  Tanker 4 staged on Barnett Rd. filling units. Engine 2 was advised by 607 Command to Access Barnett Rd. and try to stop the fire from jumping the road. When Engine 2 arrived the fire had already jumped the road. 607 Command had several more units dispatched throughout the county. The Department of Forestry was also notified. The fire burned approximately 102 acres of Field and woods. Bobcats, ATV's, and Farming Equipment were also used at the scene. Crews worked for approximately 3 hours till the fire was completely extinguished. All crews worked well togethor. A Special Thanks to Station 3 Richland Township Fire Dept.  for Bringing Engine 3-1 down to standby in our station. Several Somerset County Fire Departments assisted Sipesville.  All 605 units were in service 18:06HRS.   605-30

Brush Fire Assisting Jennerstown

  Sunday March 22nd 12:29HRS: Dispatched to assist Jennerstown with a Brush Fire endangering a structure on Barnick Rd. in Jenner Twp. Brush 3, Tanker 4, and Engine 2 responded. 606 units arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire. 606 Asst. 1 cancelled all 605 units. All units were in service at 12:38HRS.   605-29

Brush Fire In The 2nd Due

  Wednesday March 18th 16:45HRS: Dispatched to assist Jennerstown with a Brush Fire on Roaring Run Rd. in Jenner Twp. Brush 3 and Tanker 4 responded. While enroute the fire could be seen from several miles away. 606 Asst. 1 quickly got some extra tankers and manpower to the scene to assist. Brush crew quickly got to work with a booster line and rakes extinguishing the fire. Tanker 4 setup along the side of a dirt road to try to keep the fire from jumping the road. There were 4 seperate fires burning. Once crews got the majority of the fire knocked down. Crews went through the fields checking for and extinguishing hot spots. Crews  contained the fire from reaching a nearby house and barn. Crews worked on the scene for about 3 hours until all units were released by 606 Asst. 1. Severeal acres were burned. Boswell, Acosta, Sipesville, Jerome, Ideal, Stoystown, and Ligioner from Westmorland County assisted Jennerstown.    605-28 

    

   

  

Brush Fire Assisting Jerome

  Saturday March 14th 14:18HRS: Dispatched to assist Jerome with a Brush Fire on Old Hershberger Rd. in Conemaugh Township. Brush 3 and Tanker responded. Crews arrived on scene and assisted jerome firefighters with hot spots. Brush 3 and Tanker 4 returned to service at 15:09HRS. Boswell, and Hollsopple assisted Jerome.   605-27

Field Fire in Hooversville

  Wednesday March 11th 16:48HRS: Dispatched for a Tanker and Brush Truck for a field fire on Koontz Rd. in Quemahoning Twp. Brush 3 and Tanker 4 responded. Crews arrived on scene to find a large field on fire. Brsuh crew drove through the field extinguishing the fire. Crews also made a fire line around the perimeter of the fire to try to prevent the fire from spreding. Tanker 4 filled a farmers tank truck that was assisting on scene. Brush 3 used approximately 500 gallons of water. Crews then extinguished all hot spots. Boswell, Stoystown, Jerome, Hollsopple assisted Hooversville. All units returned to service at 18:35HRS.   605-26

   

Trap Job on Rt. 601

  Saturday March 7th 02:25HRS: Dispatched to assist Jerome with a single vehicle accident with entrapment on Rt. 601, 1 mile south of Jerome in Jenner Twp. Ambul 5, Engine 2, and Brush 3 reaponded. Crews arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle on its roof. Crews quickly began extricating the patient with the Jaws of Life. Crews extricated patient within 10 minutes. Patient was then transported by CT EMS to Conemaugh Hospital. Ambul 5, and Engine 2 were released by 631 Command. Brush 3 remained on the scene for traffic control.  All 605 units were in service at 03:14HRS. PSP is investigating.     605-25

Field Fire in Jenners

  Thursday March 5th 15:17HRS: Dispatched for a field fire behind 190, Cloud St, in Jenners. Brush 3, Tanker 4, and Engine 2 responded. Brush 3 arrived on scene to find a large field on fire. The fire was moving rapidly due to the wind. The fire was approximately 10 yards away from the woods. Crew began raking the hay back into the fire to try to contain it.  Brush crew quickly pulled a booster line and drove Brush 3 into the field to extuinuish the fire. Crews contained the fire to just the field. The fire was extinguished in a half hour. Crews were in service at 16:06HRS.    605-24

   
   

Automatic Fire Alarm

  Saturday February 28th 08:36HRS: Dispatched with the first alarm for a Fire Alarm at Ickes Insurance at 417 Main St, in the Borough. Prior to responding dispatch advised that there was a second call advising all units to cancell that it was a false alarm.   605-23

Flue Fire on Penn Ave

  Sunday February 22nd 16:14HRS: Dispatched along with the first alarm for a Flue Fire at 5870 Penn Ave. in Jenner Twp. Engine 2 and Tanker 4 responded. Engine 2 cancelled all companys with the exception of 605 enroute. Engine to arrived on scene to find the homeowner dumping a bucket of water down the flue. Engine crew laddered the Charlie side of the structure to check the flue. Homeowner states that he had 6ft. flames coming out the flue prior to dumping the bucket of water down the chimney. Crews checked the chimney and found no visible fire. The homeowner stated that he would clean the flue with a brush. Engine 2 and Tanker 4 returned to service without further incident at 17:01HRS.     605-22

Assist to Jennerstown on a Vehicle Accident

  Friday February 20th 07:59HRS: Dispatched to assist Jennerstown with a Motor Vehicle Accident on Somerset Pike near the Jennerstown Speedway. Engine 2, and Brush 3 responded. An ambulance was requested to the scene due to there being multiple injuries.  Ambul 6 responded. Crews arrived on scene to find 1 car and a school van involved, partially on the roadway.  Engine 2 and Brush 3 setup traffic Control on each side of the accident scene. Engine crew also assisted EMS with immobilization. Ambul 6 transported 1 patient to Somerset Hospital to be evaluated. Jennertown EMS transported 1 patient to Conemaugh Hospital. Engine 2 and Brush 3 were released by PSP. 605 Fire Police remained on scene until towing service removed cars from roadway. PSP is investigating.   605-21

   

Appliance Fire In The 2nd Due

  Wednesday February 18th 15:14HRS: Dispatched to assist Jerome with an appliance fire at 538 Hysota Hill Rd. Tanker 4, and Brush 3 responded due to Engine 605-2 being out of service for a couple of hours during the day. Tanker got the orders to stage in front of Rescue 631-3. Engine Crew from made entry into the basement to find an electrical malfunction to the  hot water tank. The homeowner cut the power to the hot water tank and the fire went out.  Crews checked for any extension with the Thermal Imager but nothing was found. 631 Command released all units. Tanker 4 and Brush 3 returned to service at 15:55HRS. Boswell, Hollsopple, Ideal, and Conemaugh Township assisted Jerome.   605-20

 

Rollover with Minor Confinement In The First Due

  Monday February 16th 18:05HRS: Dispatched for a Single Vehicle Rollover with Minor Confnement on 219 North of Rt. 30 in the Median. Ambul 5 and Engine 2 responded. Crews arrived on scene to find 1 Ford Ranger in the middle of the Median on its roof. Patient was extricated prior to our arrival by a passer by. A by-stander had C-Spine on the patient. Patient states that he was driving approximately 70mph when he lost control of his vehicle rolling over twice. Medic 902 (Somerset Ambulance Stoystown Station) was dispatched for precautionary reasons. Patient was transported by 605-5 with Medic 902 to Conemaugh Hospital. Engine 2 was released by PSP due to the truck being off the roadway. PSP is investigating.   605-19

Vehicle Accident with Injuries

  Monday February 16th 17:01HRS: Dispatched for a Vehicle Accident in front of 782 Main St. in the Borough. Prior to Ambul 5 and Engine 2 responding dispatch advised that there was 1 female on scene with a hand injury. Crews arrived on scene to find 1 chevy sedan off the roadway in a yard resting on a small tree. All occupants were out of the vehicle. Driver was refusing treatment. Engine 2 returned to service due to the car off the roadway. Ambul 5 took care of the refusal and returned to service without further incident. PSP is investigating. All units were in service at 17:18HRS.   605-18

Carbon Monoxide in a Church

  Thursday February 12th 13:01HRS: Dispatched to Assist Jerome with a negative pressure fan to ventilate the chuch. Engine 2 responded non emergency. Engine 2 arrived and got the orders by 631 Chief to set up the negative pressure fan at the basement door. Crew ventlated the structure till there was not a reading on the CO meter. Engine 2 was then released by 631 Chief. Engine 2 returned to service at 14:27HRS.   605-17

Wind Storm Hits The Area

  Thursday February 12th 10:35HRS: Dispatched for a Tree and Wires down on Greenbridge Rd. in Jenner Township. Brush 3 responded and arrived on scene to find a tree on wires. Crew cut the tree and the wires went back to normal. Crew returned to service at 11:12HRS.   605-16

  Thursday February 12th 05:43HRS: Dispatched for a 2nd Tree Down on Rt. 601 near Holder Garage in Jenner Township. Brush 3 responded and arrived on scene to find  a large tree blocking the roadway. Crew cut up the tree with the chain saw. Crew was on scene over an hour until the tree was removed from the roadway. Brush 3 returned to service.   605-15 

 Thursday February 12th 04:58HRS: Dispatched or a Tree Down blocking the roadway, in front of the Boswell Lumber Company. Brush 3 responded and arrived on scene to find a small branch in the middle of the roadway. Crew removed the small branch from the roadway and returned to service at 05:08HRS.   605-14

Electrical Fire

  Wednesday February 11th 21:10HRS: Dispatched to assist Jennerstown with a Electrical Fire on Beam Church Rd. Engine 2 and Tanker 4 responded. Both units were cancelled enroute by 606 Command. Engine 2 and Tanker 4 returned to service.   605-13 

2 Flooded Basements same Address within Hours Apart

  Saturday February 7th 22:44HRS: Dispatched for a flooded basement at 3125 Penn Ave. Engine 2 responded arrived on scene to find several inches of  water in the basement. Crew setup a portable pump and electric pump to remove the water from the basement. Crew were on the scene for 2 hrs. Crews were called back to the residence at 05:35HRS due to the basement filling back up with water again. Crews returned to service at 0722HRS.  605-11 & 605-12

Structure Fire Hooversville Borough

  Thursday February 5th 14:38HRS: Dispatched to Assist Hooversville with a Structure Fire at 112 Somerset St. in Hooversville Borough. Engine 2 responded. While enroute 604 Asst 2 arrived on scene advising working trailer fire.  Engine 604-1 laid approximately 500Ft. of LDH into the scene at the intersection of Sugar St and Church St. Engine 2 got the orders from 604 Asst 1 to stage at the hydrant in case Engine 604-1 needed water. Crews got a quick knockdown on the fire. The hydrant was not needed. Engine 2 was released and returned to service at 15:45HRS. Boswell, Stoystown, and Hollsopple assisted Hooversville.   605-10

Busy Morning for the BVFD

  Wednesday February 2nd 12:47HRS: Dispatched for a Coal Truck vs Car with possibly no injurys at the intersection of Rt. 601 and Rt. 30. Ambul 5 and Rescue/Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to find both vehicles off the roadway. The Honda Civic had moderate damage to the passenagr side front end and the Coal Truck had a scrape on the front driver side bumper. The driver of the coal truck was uninjured. Ther driver of the car asked if she could be checked out and later refused treatment/transport. Ambul 5 handled the refusal. Engine crew removed the debris from the roadway and returned to service due to vehicles being off the roadway.  Ambul got released by Medical Command and returned to service at 13:46HRS. PSP is investigating.   605-09

    

  Wednesday February 2nd 09:58HRS: Dispatched for Smoke in the Structure at 715 Keyser Rd. in Jenner Township. A firefighter  on scene  advised dispatch to hold all units in station with the exception of Station 605. Engine 2, Brush 3, and Tanker 4 responded. Engine 2 arrived on scene to find smoke coming from around the base of the chimney and the eaves. 605 Chief immediately had Jerome with an Engine, Acosta, and Jennerstown respond to the scene with their tankers. Engine crew quickly laddered the address side of the structure to the roof. 605LT cut a hole in the eave with a ventilation saw to extuinguish some of the extension. Engine crew from Jerome went inside the structure with a TIC (thermal imager) to check the walls for extension. Crews were getting high tempatures around the chimney and walls with a heat gun. A crew then went to the basement and extuinguished the furnace fire and removed flue pipes and began cleaning out the flue. The roof crew dumped dry chemical down the flue and began dropping a chain down through as the basement crew removed the debris from the flue. Once the basement crew was finished removing the debris from the flue in the basement crews setup a negative pressure fan to remove the smoke from the basement. 605 Command released the Tankers from the scene. The structure was once again checked for extension in the 1st and 2nd floor around the flue, and nothing was found. All units returned to service at 12:18HRS. Jennerstown, Jerome, and Acosta assisted.   605-08

Super Bowl Sunday Tree Down

 Sunday February 2nd 16:22HRS: Dispatched for a Tree Down on Quemahoning Dam Rd. Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to find a tree blocking the roadway. Engine crew removed the tree from roadway and returned to service at 16:49HRS.   605-07 

Motor Vehicle Accident No Injuries

  Wednesday January 28th 10:13HRS: Dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident with possible no injuries on Rt. 219 North Bound just North of the Quemahoning Bridges. Ambul 5, Engine 2, and Brush 3 responded. Ambul 5 arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle off the roadway. Driver of the car states that he hit ice and his car went off the roadway hitting the guide rail. Patient states that PSP was on scene and left. Ambul 5 cancelled all units and returned to service at 10:26HRS.    605-06

Tanker Assist in Cambria County

  Sunday January 25th 05:36HRS: Dispatched  Special Request for Tanker  4 to assist Oakland Station 6 Cambria County with a Commercial Structure Fire at Carmans Tire on Bedford St.  Tanker 4 responded and arrived on scene to start shuttling water. Tanker 4 shuttled water for approximately 7 hours before being released. Tanker 4 returned to service around 13:00HRS.   605-05

Motor Vehicle Accident

  Wednesday January 21st 09:47HRS:  Dispatched with Medic 950 for a Motor Vehicle Accident on SR. 219 South of Rt. 30 in the middle of the Median. Ambul 5, Engine/Rescue 2, and Brush 3 responded. Ambul 5 arrived on scene to find 1 Jeep Liberty SUV in the middle of the Median with Moderate damage to the front end and passengar side. The driver of the SUV was self extricated and was in a Passerbys car. Patient is refusing treatment. Patient states that she was traveling at approximately 55mph when she hit ice and lost control over SUV. Patient states that the SUV rolled 2 times coming to a rest in the middle of the Median.  Medic 950 was cancelled by 605 Commander. Brush 3 returned to service. Engine/Rescue 2 was requested by PSP to stay on scene and provide traffic control for towing service. Ambul 5 was released by Medical Command. Engine/Rescue 2 returned to service at 11:00HRS. PSP is investigating.

Flue Fire

  Wednesday January 14th 20:33HRS: Dispatched for a Flue Fire at 118 Hill St. in Jenners. Dispatch advised prior to responding that the caller stated that he had smoke in the residence. Engine 2, Brush 3, and Tanker 4 responded. Engine crew arrived on scene to find smoke in the residence. Homeowner had the woodburner to hot and the pipes were red hot and he  took the wood out of the woodburner. Homeowner opened up windows to the residence to ventilate the smoke. Engine Crew checked the walls for extension with the TIC and nothing was found. The Flue was checked and the fire was out. All units returned to service at 21:01HRS.   605-03

Coal Truck Overturned

  Monday January 12th 10:53HRS: Dispatched with Medic 950 for a Coal Truck overturned with entrapment on SR 219 North Bound just North of the Quemahoming Bridges. Medic 501 was enroute to windber and witnessed the wreck. Medic 501 advised dispatch that the patient was self extricated. Ambul 605-5 and Brush 605-3 responded. Ambul 5 was advised by dispatch that there was negative entrapment. Ambul 5 arrived on scene to find the patient in the care of medic 501. Medic 501 was then released so they could coninue their transport. Ambul 5 transported patient to Conemaugh Hospital with Medic 950. Brush crew along wih fire police remained on scene for several hours handling the traffic control until the towing service removed tow truck.  PSP is investigating. Crews returned to service at 15:35HRS.   605-02

                        

2nd Due Structure Fire

  Tuesday January 6th 16:27HRS: Dispatched to Assist Jennerstown with a Structure Fire on Matterhorn Dr. in Laurel Mountain Village. in Jenner Township. Engine 1, Tanker 4, Brush 3, and Ambul 6 responded. 606 Asst. 1 responded and when he reached Laurel Mountain Village he advised all units to use extreme caution due to icey road conditions. 606 Asst. 1 advised all units to stage on Laurel Summitt Rd. with the exception of Engine 605-1 and Engine 606-1. Engine 1 staged on Highlands Drive due to a hill that was extremely icey. 606 Asst. 1 advised dispatch to have a township truck notified to put shell down on the roads amd advised he had smoke in the building and for crews to walk down with water cans, ladder, and ventilation saw. Crew arrived and found fire around the flue. Crews cut a hole in the wall and extuinguished hot spots. Due to the help of the homeowner the fire was contained to around the flue by throwing buckets of water on the fire. 606 Asst. 1 had Sta. 643 put there Engine in Sta. 606 for standby and 601 placed 1 Engine in 605.  All units were in service at 18:19HRS. Boswell, Ligioner, Acosta, and Sipesville assisted Jennerstown.  A special thanks to the Somerset Fire Dept. for Bringing down an Engine for standby.       605-01
