Flue Fire

  Tuesday December 30th 17:01HRS: Dispatched for a Flue Fire at 228 Juniata St. in Boswell Borough. Engine 605-1 and 2 responded. Engine crew arrived on scene and found the residence full of smoke. Crew placed a 35ft. ladder to the side of the residence to check the flue. Crew used a brush with extension poles to clean the flue. Crew then returned to service at 17:48HRS.    605-114

 

2nd Due Trailer Fire

   Sunday December 28th 16:40HRS: Dispatched to assist Jennerstown with a Trailer Fire on Drift Rd. in a Trailer Court in Jenner Township. Engine 1, 2 and Tanker 4 responded. Engine 2 got the orders to come in Drift Rd. and Park behind E606-1. 605 LT. made entry into the trailer with 606 firefighter to find heavy fire in the rear of the trailer in a bedroom. Crew pulled a 2nd and 3rd 2" line off Engine 2 which was advanced in the side door to reach the fire in the back bedroom and used to extuinguish the fire under the trailer. Crews pulled skirting off from around the trailer to find fire underneath. Tanker 4 connected to Engine 2 to feed them water. After the fire was knocked down crews setup a PPV fan in the front door to clear the smoke for overhaul. Crews found that there was a fuel line ruptered under trailer leaking. Crews shut off the gas to the structure. Crew foamed the hot spots. The fire started when the homeowners were and home and all occupants got out safetly. Boswell Crews were released per 606 Command. Boswell, Sipesville, Acosta, and Ligioner from Westmorland County assisted Jennerstown. Crews were in service at 18:29HRS.     605-113

      

Tree Fire

   Sunday December 28th 11:32HRS: Dispatched for a Tree Fire at 2299 Lincoln Hwy. in Jenner Township. Engine 2 and Brush 3 responded to arrive on scene to find a large tree in the back yard of the residence on fire. The fire was in a hole in the tree.  Engine crew pulled a 1" booster line off Brush 3 and doused the tree with 200 gallons of water.  Crews returned to service at  12:25HRS.    605-112

   

Fuel Spill

  Sunday December 28th 10:22HRS: Dispatched for a Fuel Spill at 153 2 Mile Run Rd. in Ralphton. Engine 605-2 responded and arrived on scene to find no fuel spilled. The owner of the residence states that she lost approximately 250 gallons of oil from her holding tank. Engine searched the whole perimeter and nothing was found. Engine crew returned to service at 10:53HRS.    605-111

Motor Vehicle Accident

   Saturday December 27th 15:55HRS:  Dispatched with Medic 950 and Medic 902 for Vehicle Accident involving a pick up and car at the intersection of Main St. and Rt. 30. Ambul 5,6, Engine 1, and 2 responded. Crews arrived on scene to find 2 patients in the car injured and the driver of the pick up truck walking around the accident. EMS attended to the patients in the car. Ambul 605-5 transported the passengar to Conemaugh Hospital, and Medic 902 transported the driver to Somerset Hospital. Engine removed the debri from the roadway. Fire Police handled traffic control. PSP is investigating. Crews were in service at 16:41HRS.    605-110

 

Vehicle Fire

  Saturday December 27th 10:45HRS: Station Still, Vehicle Fire at the top of Allegheny St. in Boswell Borough. Brush 605-3 responded and arrived on scene to find half of the car on fire. Crew used 200 gallons of water with an 1" 1/2 hand line to extuinguish the fire.  Brush 3 was in service 11:15HRS.   605-109 

Smoke in a Trailer

   Thursday December 25th 02:38HRS: Dispatched for a Smoke in a Trailer at 6895 Somerset Pike, in Jenner Twp. District 606. Engine 1, 2, and Tanker 4 responded. All units were to stage on Somerset Pike per 606 Asst. 1. Engine 1 was then called up to the scene from staging for a PPV fan. 606 Asst. 1 then released all units. All units were in service at 03:11HRS.   605-108

Tree and Wires Down

  Monday December 22nd 16:52HRS: Dispatched for a Tree and Wires down in front of 109 Middle St. Jenners. Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to find a large tree blocking the roadway. Engine crew contacted dispatch with the pole number. Engine crew starting cutting the tree with saws and removing the tree from roadway. The Township showed up with a front end loader and advised that we could be released. Engine 2 returned to service at 17:20HRS.   605-107

   

Motor Vehicle Accident

   Monday December 22nd 09:25HRS: Dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident on SR. 219 North Bound just North of the Quemahoning Bridges. Ambul 605-6 and Engine 605-2 responded. Ambul 6 arrived on scene to find a Chevy Blazer partially on the rodway with moderate damage to the right front passengar side. Engine 2 arrived on scene and handled the traffic. Medic 640-1 arrived on scene assessed patient, contacted Medical Command and was released to BLS. Ambul 6 transported patient to CVMH BLS. Engine 2 returned to service at 09:58HRS.    605-106

Tanker Assist

  Sunday December 21st 14:12HRS: Dispatched to assist Sipesville with Tanker 4 on a Barn Fire, South on Rt. 985. 607 Chief advised to hold all units in station until he arrived on scene.  607 Chief then advised for all units to cancel.     605-105 

Flue Fire

  Sunday December 21st 11:02HRS: Dispatched for a Flue Fire at 228 Juniata St. Boswell Borough. Engine 605-1 and Engine 605-2 responded. Engine crews arrived on scene to find the fire out in the flue. Engine crew checked walls around the flue with the heat gun and everything was fine. Engine crew returned to service at 11:43HRS.   605-104

  

Flooded Basement

  Saturday December 20th 10:51HRS: Dispatched for a flooded basement at 430 Quemahoning St. Boswell Borough. Brush 605-3 responded and arrived on scene to find approximately 1ft. of water in the basement. Crew used an electric pump to remove the water from the basement. Brush 3 was in service at 11:55HRS.   605-103

Several Calls from Storm

  Friday December 19th 11:27HRS: Dispatched for a Flooded Basement at 192 Mcvicker Rd. Engine 605-1 responded. while enroute dispatch advised Engine 1 of several more flooded basements. The Engine Crew was busy the rest of the day with Flooded Basements, Flooded Roadways, Tree downs and Water Rescues.  Engine Crew did not return to service until 19:00HRS that evening.       605-92  -  605-102  

     

Automatic Fire Alarm

  Wednesday December 17th 19:02HRS: Dispatched along with the First Alarm for a Automatic Fire Alarm at 1215 Morris Ave. North Star Elementary School. 605 LT held all units in Station with the exception of Station 605. Engine 605-2 responded and arrived on scene to find nothing showing from the exterior. School Superintendant met Engine Crew at the entrance and advised that it was a false arm and to cancel. 605 LT cancelled all units. Engine 2 returned to service at 19:11HRS.   605-91

Motor Vehicle Accident

  Tuesday December 16th 16:21HRS: Dispatched with Medic 902 for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Sr. 219 North Bound, just South of the Rt. 30 Exit. Ambul 605-6  and Engine 605-2 responded. Ambul 605-6 arrived on scene to find 1 car off the roadway wedged between 2 banks. Patient is refusing treatment. 605 Comamnder cancelled Medic 902. Patient states that she going approximately 45MPH and lost control of her car in hazerdous road conditions due to snow. 605-6 handled the refusal, Engine 2 and Fire Police handled the traffic control.  PSP is investigating. 605-6 remained on the scene with patient until Towing Service arrived.  All units were in service at 17:29HRS.     605-90                        Video

  

Odor Investigation

  Sunday December 14th 12:23HRS: Dispatched for an Odor Investigation in the basement of a residence at 231 Mississippi St. Boswell Borough. Dispatch advised that there was a smell of Natural Gas in the basement. Engine 1 and 2 responded. Gas Company was notified and had an extended ETA. Engine crew shut off the gas to the house and ventilated. Crews returned to service at 12:52HRS.    605-89

Tanker Assist

  Saturday December 13th 18:40HRS: Dispatched to Assist Station 610 with Tanker 4 on a Structure Fire at 205 Fortune Lane. Tanker 4 was dispatched 40 minutes into the alarm.  Tanker 4 responded. Tanker 4 arrived on scene and staged at the bottom of the road of the fire scene. Tanker 4 was not needed and returned to service at 21:12HRS.   605-88             Wjac Tv

Flooded Basement

  Thursday December 11th 21:58HRS: Dispatched for a Flooded Basement at 3125 Penn Ave. in Jenner Township. Engine 1 responded and arrived on scene to find approximately 12 inches of water in the basement. Engine crew used trash pumps to remove the water from the basement. Engine crew returned to service at 23:33HRS.  605-87

Motor Vehicle Accident with Ejection

  Saturday Decemeber 6th 16:50HRS: Dispatched with Medic 902 and Medic 957 for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Ejection on SR 219 South Bound just South of the 219 on ramp. Ambul 605-6, Ambul 605-5, Engine 605-1, and Engine 605-2 responded. 605 LT. responded direct to arrive on scene to find a Chevy Blazer into the woods with 1 patient ejected laying in the woods and the other patient walking around. EMS began patient care on the 2 occupants.  Medic 902 and Ambul 605-6 with Medic 957 transported both patients to Conemaugh Hospital. They stated they were driving South Bound on 219 when they lost control of their SUV due to hazerdous road conditions and rolled several times going up an embankment into the woods. 605 Fire Police handled the traffic. PSP is investigating.  All units were in service at 17:48HRS.    605-86

               

Motorcycle vs Car

  Friday November 28th 14:19HRS: Dispatched with Medic 950 for a Motorcycle vs Car at the Intersection of Garrett Ave. and Quemahoning St. Ambul 605-6, Ambul 605-5, and Engine 605-2 responded. Ambul 6 arrived on scene to find 1 patient laying in the middle of the road. EMS provided patient care. 605 Commander had Med Star 1 be put in the air due to the severity of injurys on the patient. Engine 2 left the scene to set up an LZ at the Firemans Grove. Med Star 1 arrived and patient care was transferred. Patient hit the back quarter panel of a jeep going at a high rate of speed. Patient then went airborne 66ft through the air hitting the road. Patient was not wearing a helmet. Engine crew and 605-6 cleared the LZ and returned to service. PSP is investigating.      605-85

Thanksgiving Appliance Fire

 Thursday November 27th 15:32HRS: Dispatched to a reported Structure Fire at 503 Stonycreek St. Boswell Borough. 605 Safety Officer responded direct to find fire knocked down that was in the oven. Homeowner states that he was cooking a Turkey when the grease over flowed causing a fire. 605 Safety cancelled all incoming units with the exception of 605. Engine 1 and 2 responded. Engine crews ventilated the structure and returned to service. Jennerstown, Stoystown, and Jerome were canceled enroute.    605-84 

Automatic Fire Alarm

  Monday November 24th 07:35HRS: Dispatched along with the first alarm for a Smoke Detector Activation at 915 Boswell Heights in the Borough. Engine 1 and 2 responded. Dispatch advised that a resident from 917 Boswell Heights said that she could hear a smoke detector alarm in the residence of 915. Engine 2 arrived on scene to find nothing showing from the exterior. Engine crew were met at the front door by a Housing Authority Maitenance worker. He advised that an elderly woman placed her slippers in the oven to dry them. The slippers melted causing the house to fill up with smoke. 605 LT. Cancelled all incoming units. Engine crew opened all windows to the residence to clear the smoke. Engine 1 and 2 returned to service at 07:54HRS. Jennerstown, Stoystown, and Jerome Fire Departments were cancelled enroute.    605-83

Motor Vehicle Accident

  Friday November 21st 14:06HRS: Dispatched for Motor Vehicle Accident in front of 700 Main St. in the Borough. Ambul 605-5 and Engine 605-2 repsonded. Ambul had Medic 902 dispatched due to the fact that they were in the area. Medic 902 was later cancelled due to patient refusing treatment.  Ambul 5 arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle into the woods resting on a drain. Driver is self extricated. Patient is refusing treatment. Engine crew handled traffic control until EMS was done with the refusal. The driver states that he slid off the road into the woods due to hazerdous road conditions. PSP is investigating. Ambul 605-5 was released by Medical Command. Both units were in service at 14:38HRS.     605-82

Coal Truck Overturned with Entrapment

  Friday November 21st 08:47HRS: Dispatched for an Overturned Coal Truck with Entrapment infront of 5222 Front St, Jenners in Jenner Township. Prior to responding 605 LT. requested for 606 be dispatched to assist with extrication. Ambul 605-5, Engine 605-2, and Brush 605-3  responded. Ambul 605-5 arrived on scene to find 1 Coal Truck overturned on its driver side on an embankment. 605-5 advised dispatch that the driver is self extrication and there is negative entrapment. Brush 3, Fire Police, and crews from 606 handled traffic control. EMS prodived treatment to the driver. The driver states that he was going approximately 10 to 15 MPH going around a curve in hazerdous road conditions due to weather when he lost control of his Coal Truck going over the guide rails coming to a rest on its driver side on an emankment. 605-5 transported the driver with Medic 950 to Conemaugh Hospital. 606 was later released by 605 Chief. Crew remained on scene for hours until Herrings Towing service pulled the Coal Truck up over the embankment back on its wheels and Sleek trucking removed the coal from the roadway. PSP is investigating.  All units were in service at 11:40HRS.         605-81

     

Traffic Control

  Friday November 21st 07:30HRS: Dispatched to assist Jennerstown with Traffic Control on Route 30 at the top of the Mountain. 606 Asst. advised that we standby in station until he got on scene. Crew stood by in station until canceled 35 minutes later.     605-80

2 Motor Vehicle Accidents

  Thursday November 20th 18:55HRS: Dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Route 219 South Bound South of Rt. 30. Ambulance 605-5 arrived on scene found a Vehicle with damage to front end of the auto. No one was around the vehicle. Received a call from Dispatch center that The crash was to be North of Route 30 in the South Bound lane near the Quemahoning bridges. One vehicle involved one patient. 605-5 transported 1 patient to Somerset Hospital with Medic 950. Engine crew remained on scene until towing service removed car from roadway. While on scene Dispatch adivsed of another accident in the South Bound Lane. 605 Asst. responded and could not find the accident. Engine 2 cleared.      605-78 & 605-79

Automatic Fire Alarm

  Tuesday November 18th 09:38HRS: Dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at Country Manor Living, in Jerome. District 631. Engine 1 and 2 responded. Engine 2 got orders to stage at the hydrant at Keim and Coal St. per 631 Command. Engine 1 and 2 were later released by 631 command. Engine 1 and 2 were in service at 09:56HRS.

Vehicle Fire

  Wednesday October 29th 11:03HRS: Dispatched for a Passenger Vehicle Fire at The Intersection of Main St. and Rt. 30 at the Pull Off. Engine 2 responded par 5 and arrived on scene to find the already extuinguished by the driver of the vehicle. Engine crew disconnected the battery. Engine 2 returned to service at 11:19HRS. PSP assisted at the scene.     605-76

Motor Vehicle Accident

  Saturday October 25th 01:07HRS: Dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Unknown Injuries in front of 2284 Lincoln Highway in Jenner Township. Ambul 605-5, Ambul 605-6, and Engine 605-2 responded. Dispatch advised upon responding that there was 1 car into the woods. Ambul 5 arrived on scene to find 1 car over the embankment in the woods with severe damage.  Ambul 5 transported 1 patient to Conemaugh Hospital with Somerset Ambulance Medic Unit 950. Patient stated that he was driving his car westbound when he lost control and his car rolled over, hit a tree and then came to rest on its wheels. Patient was ejected out the passengar side window. Engine crew handled traffic control and removed debri from roadway.  Engine crew remained on scene until towing service removed car. Crews were in service at 02:21HRS.   Thursday October 23rd 19:46HRS: Dispatched for a Rubbish Fire on the Road in the area of Pacific St. in the Borough. Engine 1 responded and found nothing on Pacific St. Engine 1 returned to service at 19:52HRS.      605-74

Brush Fire and Overturned Tanker with Entrapment

  Thursday October 23rd 15:22HRS: Dispatched to Assist Hooversville and Stoystown with a Brush 3 and Manpower for a Brush Fire on Palermini Lane in  Shade Township. District 614.  Dispatch Advised that per 614 request we respond Tanker 4. Tanker 4 and Brush 3 responded. While Stoystown crews were making an attack on the Brush Fire they heard over the radio of a Tanker Accident just down the road from the brush fire with 2 firefighters trapped on Fallen Timber Rd. 604 Attack responded from the Brush Fire to the accident to start extricating the firefighters.  Central City and Friedens were dispatched for rescues to the accident scene. Engine 2 was dispatched as well for extrication. Engine 2 responded and arrived on scene to find both firefighters extricated. Both firefighters were transported by CT EMS and Somerset Ambulance (Stoystown Station) to Conemaugh Hospital for evaluation. Engine 2 assisted with stabilization. Engine 2 was later released by 614 Command. Tanker 4 and Brush had to Detour around Fallen Timber Rd. to Ridge Rd. and down to Palermini Lane. Brush Crew pulled approximately 400Ft. of 1" forestry line. and a 1" 1/2 line to extuinguish fire and hot spots. Tanker 4 connected to Engine 604-1 with LDH.  Approximately 2-3 acres burned. Crews assisting Hooversville for both the Brush Fire and Accident were Boswell, Stoystown, Friedens, and Central City.  Crews were in service at approximately 2100HRS.    605-72 605-73

Motor Vehicle Accident

  Friday October 20th 12:12HRS: Dispatched for Engine 605-2 for a Motor Vehicle Accident  SUV vs Coal Truck on SR 601 in front of Rolling Acres Dairy. District 631. Engine 605-2 responded. 631 Command advised that there was entrapment. 631 Command advised to Pull in the parking lot of Rolling Acres Dairy and assist with extrication. Engine crew arrived on scene to find 1 SUV with  Sever damage to the front end. and a coal truck 10 yards down the Rd. Crews extricated patient and patient was transported to Conemaugh Hospital by CT EMS.  Engine crew was later released by 631 command. Engine 2 returned to service at 12:37HRS. PSP is investigating.    605-72

  

Vehicle Fire

  Friday October 17th 17:30HRS: Dispatched for a Vehicle Fire on 219 North of Rt. 30 in the North Bound Lane at the accident scene. Engine 605-2 and Tanker 605-4 responded and arrived on scene to find smoke and flames showing from the car.  Engine crew pulled a 1" 3/4 handline off the drivers side and extuinguished the fire quickly. Engine crew remained on scene until Herrings Pulled the car up over the embankment. Engine 2 and Tanker 4 returned to service at 18:31.   605-71

     

Trap Job In The 1st Due

  Friday October 17th 15:51HRS: Dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident down over an Embankment with Entrapment on SR 219 North of Rt. 30 in the North Bound Lane. Ambul 605-5, 605-6, and Engine 605-2 responded. Dispatched advised ambul 5 that there was 1 patient trapped and 1 ejected.  Ambul 5 arrived on scene to find 1 4 door chrysler car down over an embankment on its passenger side with 1 patient laying in the back passenger seat. It was found out that there was only 1 patient.  605 EMS crew initiated patient care. Engine 2 arrived on scene and began stabilizing the car with cribbing and winch. Engine crew then began extrication with the Jaws of Life. Once extrication was complete crews boarded patient and placed him in the stokes basket. Crews then carried patient up over the embankment and patient was transported by Medic 640-1 to CVMH. Patient was in stable condition at the scene.  605 Command released E 631-1.  605-5 and 6 returned to service without incident. Engine2 cleared the scene at 17:32 HRS.  605 & 631 Fire Police shut down traffic on Rt. 219 for approximately 45 minutes. PSP is investigating. Tire Fire

  Thursday September 25th 20:56HRS: Dispatched to Assist Sta. 631 (Jerome) with  a Tire Fire endangering a structure on Miller Rd. in Jenner Twp. Engine 1, Tanker 4, and Brush 3 responded. Engine 1 got the orders to stage by the barn. Tanker 4 staged on Miller Rd. Engine crew pulled a 2'' line off the front bumper  to assist Jeromes engine crew with extuinguishing the tires. 631 Command later released all units. All units were in service at 21:43HRS.     605-66

Automatic Fire Alarm

  Wednesday September 24th 13:57HRS: Dispatched to assist Sta. 604 with an Automatic Fire Alarm at North Star Middle School, 3598 Whistler Rd. Quemahoning Twp. 604 Asst. arrived on scene and cancelled all units before responding.   605-65 

Wires Down

  Monday September 15th 05:31HRS: Dispatched for wires down in front of 678 Kircher Place, Boswell Borough. Engine 2 responded and arrive on scene to find a low hanging phone line. Engine crew tied the line back to the pole. Engine 2 returned to service at 06:07HRS.    605-64

Propane Tank Leak

  Sunday September 14th 15:49HRS: Dispatched for a Propane Tank Leak at 5001 Penn Ave. in Jenner Township. Upon Engine 2 responding dispatch advised that there was a firefighter on scene and advised there was no leak found and to cancel.   605-63 

Electrical Fire

  Saturday September 13th 19:24HRS: Dispatched for an Electrical Fire at 410 Quemahoning St. in the Borough. Engine 1 responded and arrived on scene to find a fan motor burned up from it falling over. The fire was out. 605 Asst. 2 cancelled the first alarm. Engine 1 was in service at 19:33HRS.    605-62

Car vs Motorcycle Accident

  Monday September 8th 06:56HRS: Dispatched with Medic 950 for a Car vs Motorcycle in front of 2373 Lincoln Hwy. Jenner Township. Ambul 605-6 and Engine 605-2 responded. Ambul 6 placed Med Star on standby while enroute. Ambul 6 arrived on scene to find a Motorcycle partially under the side of the school bus and a PT Cruiser off the side of the road in a drive way. The driver to the Motorcycle refused treatment. Med Star and Medic  950 were cancelled by 605 Commander due to there being no injuries on scene. Engine crew placed absorbant on the leaking fluids from the motorcycle and provided traffic control along with the Fire Police. PSP investigated the scene. Engine 2 was in service at 07:46HRS.     605-61

Motor Vehicle Accident

  Thursday August 21st 18:32HRS: Dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Greenbridge Rd. Jenner Township. Ambul 605-6, 605-5, Engine 605-1 & 605-2 responded. 605 Asst. responded direct to arrive on scene to find 5 patients all self extricated from the vehicle. EMS began assessing patients. 606 was dispatched to assist with an ambulance. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Ambul 6 and 606-3 transported 2 patients each to Conemaugh Hospital and Ambul 5 transported 1 BLS. PSP is investigating the scene. Medic 902 (Somerset Ambulance Stoystown Station) and Medic 950 (Somerset Ambulance Medic Unit) assissted at the scene. Engine 1 and 2 were in service at 19:14HRS.     605-60

Automatic Fire Alarm

  Friday August 15th 13:43HRS: Dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 213 Godin Dr. Jenner Township. Stations 606, 631, and 608 were dispatched but were held in station by 605 LT. Engine 605-2 responded fully crewed and arrived on scene to find nothing showing from the exterior. The homeowners brother was on the scene and said it was a false alarm. 605 LT cancelled all units. Engine 2 returned to service at 13:56HRS.    605-59

Water Rescue

  Monday August 11th 12:05HRS: Dispatched to assist Jerome (Sta. 631) with a boat that was taking in water with 5 patients at the Quemahoning Dam. Brush 605-3 with boat  7, Ambul 605-6, and 5 responded. 631 Chief setup a Command Post at the public boat launch.  631 Chief had Command and advised Brush 3 to launch boat 7 at the Summers Best 2 Weeks public launch. Boat 7 staged at the public launch. 631 Asst. Launched boat 652 at the private launch. Boat 652 spotted the individuals and brought them into shore safetly.  Nobody was injured.  All 605 Units were in service at 12:44HRS.    605-58

 

Unknown Type Fire

  Friday August 8th 04:00HRS: Dispatched for an Unknown Type Fire at the North Star High School Football Field. 605 Asst 1 responded direct and arrived on scene to find a small fire at the entrance to the field. Engine 605-2 responded. Engine crew pulled a 1 3/4 trash line and had the fire extuinguished within minutes. Crew found a can of paint thinner inside what was a Porta John (Honey Pot). The fire spread to bags of cement which was being used to put in new chain link fence at the field. PSP is investigating. Engine 2 was in service at 04:23HRS.     605-57

        

Vehicle Fire

  Sunday August 3rd 00:10HRS: Dispatched for a Vehicle Fire at our Firemans Grove on Hower Ave. The Boswell Borough Cop Car was filled with white smoke.  Due to our Picnic all the fireman were already on scene and Engine 2 was still back there from the parade. No water was needed. Crews quickly disconnected the battery.  The cop had a dog in the back of the car when he had stuck a criminal in the back, the officer stuck the dog in the front and got into some wires on the control panel which caused the smoke. Engine 2 was in service at 00:27HRS.     605-56

  Friday August 1st 17:23HRS: Dispatched for Wires Down  at the intersection of Center St. and Merchants Ave. Engine 605-2 responded and arrived on scene to find a phone line wire over the roadway. Engine 2 cleared the scene while 605 Fire Police handled the traffic.    605-55 

Automatic Fire Alarm

  Sunday July 27th 21:48HRS: Dispatched to Assist 614 with an Automatic Fire Alarm at Somerset Trust Company, 803 Barn St. in the Borough of Hooversville. 614 Asst. 2 advised he was on the scene and had nothing showing from the exterior. 614 Chief cancelled all units before responding.    605-54

Structure Fire

  Friday July 25th 04:34HRS: Dispatched to assist Hooversville (614) for a Working  Structure Fire at the Grand Central Hotel formely know as the North Star Inn on Main St. in the Borough. Engine 605-1 and Engine 605-2 responded. 614 Command advised while enroute that there was structure collapse. Engine 2 was advised by 614 Command to tag the hydrant at Daniel Shaffers and lay LDH into the scene. Engine 2 layed approximately 600ft. of LDH into the scene and connected to Engine 1. The fire spread across the street to an Apartment Building which was formely known as the Bank Building. Heavy Fire was blowing out the  3rd floor windows of the apartments. Engine crew pulled a blitz fire attack line and was set up out on the side walk to the Apartments. 605LT gained entry into the Apartments with a crew from Richland Township (Sta. 3). Engine crew pulled a 300ft hand line of 1" 3/4 off Engine 2 and 2 200ft handlines of 1" 3/4 and advanced them into the Apartments. Crews found heavy fire on the 3rd floor and quickly extuinguished the fire. Crews set up positive pressure ventilation at the front door. The 3rd floor apartment sustained heavy fire damage. An occupant and his daughter were alerted by a firefighters wife to exit the Apartment. They escaped the building safetly. A house and the Community Building recieved damage. Engine 2 was released by 614 command and Engine 1 remained on the scene for overhaul operations. Boswell, Stoystown, Hollsopple and Richland Township Fire Departments assisted Hooversville at the scene. The PSP Fire Marshall is investigating the fire. Motor Vehicle Accident

  Tuesday July 23rd 02:51HRS: Dispatched For an MVA on SR 219 somewhere between the Boswell and Jerome Exit in the South Bound Lane with Sta. 631 and 640 EMS. Ambul 605-6 and Engine 605-1 responded. 640-4 arrived on scene first to find 1 car over an embankment and the 2nd car with an elderly couple with minor confinement about 20yds up the road on the shoulder of 219.  640-4 advised to cancel 605 EMS units due to the accident being in there area. Ambul 6 proceeded into the scene. Ambul 6 arrived on scene to find that the accident was approximately 2 miles inside the Jenner Township Line which is in our area. Ambul 6 returned to service and 640-4 was calling for 640-1 coming out of Tire Hill with 2 patients on scene when Ambul 6 was cancelled. Engine 1 was later cancelled by 631 Command. Units were in service at 03:02HRS.         605-52

Water Rescue

  Monday July 14th 19:43HRS: Dispatched for a overturned kayak and a 14yr old girl suck in the water. Dispatch advised upon responding that the girl was not hurt she just needed brought back to shore. Brush 3 with Boat 7 and Ambul 5 responded. Crews arrived to find individual still in the water. Boat 7 went to a boat launch on Greenbridge Rd. A water rescue personell got in the water tied herself off with rope and swam to the patient approximately 50yds  from shore and a crew on the bank pulled the 2 to shore safetly. Boat 7 retrieved the sinking kayak and brought it shore. The patient was then checked out by EMS. Patient was later released. All units were in service at 20:40HRS.     605-51

Structure Fire

  Saturday July 5th 15:01HRS: Dispatched for a Reported Structure Fire at the Boswell Borough Building. 2nd Call to 911 advising that it was at the corner of Morris Ave and Stonycreek St. at The Boswell Borough Maintenance Shed. Engines 605-2, 605-1, and Tanker 605-4 responded. Engine 2 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke conditions coming from under the bay doors. A resident next to the building knocked the fire down with a fire extuinguisher from the outside. Engine 1 staged at a hydrant on Stonycreek St. Engine crew pulled a 1' 3/4 hand line from Engine 2 and crews gained entry inside the shed to put the fire out. Engine crew then ventilated the shed.  The fire was started from the outside by a minor lighting off fire works the night before. Boswell Borough Police took the minor in for questioning. All unit were cancelled enroute by 605 Captain with the exception of 606 units. 605 Chief had Command.  Stoystown and Jerome Fire Depts. were cancelled enroute. Jennerstown assisted at the scene. Crews cleared the scene at 15:55HRS.   605-50

  Wednesday July 2nd 19:11HRS: Structure Fire, 147 E 2nd St. Gray in Jenner Township. District 606. Engine 605-1, 605-2, and Tanker 605-4 responded. 606 Asst. advised communications that he was on the scene and had a working fire in the attic of the residence. Engine 2 arrived on scene and laid approximately 700Ft. of 5" to the scene. Crews had a quick knock down on the fire. Tanker 4 staged on the scene and was not needed. Engine crews assisted with fire suppression, ventilation, and salvage and overhaul. Penelect was requested to the scene. Red Cross assisted the Family. Crews were in Service at 20:56HRS.  Crews assisting Jennerstown were Boswell, Sipesville, and Acosta.   605-49

Motorcycle Accident

   Tuesday July 1st 18:25HRS: Dispatched for a Motorcycle Accident on Speigle Rd. in Jenner Township. Ambul 605-6, Engine 605-2, and Brush 605-3 responded. Ambul 6 arrived on scene to find 1 patient kneeling on the shoulder of the roadway. Ambul 6 transported patient with Medic 950 to Conemaugh Hospital to be treated for Minor Injuries. Engine 2 and Brush 3 were cleared due to them not being needed at the scene. Crews were in service at 18:56HRS.   605-48

ATV Accident

  Sunday June 29th 14:37HRS: Dispatched for an ATV Accident at 517 Main St. in the Borough. Ambul 605-6, and 605-5 responded. Both units arrived on scene to find both Males injured in the yard of the residence . The Accident happened on Blacks Hill Rd. in Jenner Twp. And the patients barrowed a friends ATV to drive back to their residence. Ambul 6 transported 2 patients with Medic 950 to CVMH.   605-47

   Saturday June 21st 23:22HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident with Unknown Injuries, in  front of 943 Ralphton Rd. in Jenner Township. Ambul 605-6 and Engine 605-1 responded. Ambul 6 was advised upon responding that there was 1 car in a ditch off the roadway. Dispatch then advised that 2nd call from the caller advising patient is not hurt and is at a near by residence. Medic 950 was cancelled. 605-6 handled the Refusal. Engine 1 returned to service due to car being off the roadway. PSP is investigating. Crews returned to service at 23:52HRS.   605-46

Vehicle vs Motorcycle

   Saturday June 21st 16:50HRS: Vehicle vs Motorcycle. in front of 222 Main St. in the Borough. Ambul 605-6, Ambul 5 and Engine 605-1 responded. Arrived on scene to find the operator of the motorcycle on the roadway. The vehicle was off the roadway in a parking lot. Ambul 6 provided patient care and was assisted by Medic 950. Ambul 6 transported 1 patient to Conemaugh Memorial Hospital where he was treated for injuries. Engine 1 was released by PSP.  PSP is investigating. Crews returned to service at 17:09HRS.     605-45

Trailer Fire

  Wednesday June 18th 18:04HRS: Trailer Fire, 143 Field Dr. Stonebridge Gardens in Quemahoning Township. District 604. Engine 605-1, Brush 605-3, Tanker 605-4, and Ambul 605-6 responded. Engine 604-1 arrived on scene to find smoke conditions inside the trailer. 604 Engine crew removed a dog from inside the trailer. The fire was contained to the stove vents and cupboards. Crews set up ventilation. Hooversville (614) was  cancelled enroute per 604 Command. All 605 units were later released by 604 Command. The fire started on the stove from burnt food. Water Rescue

   Sunday June 15th 11:58HRS: Water Rescue Overturned Boat, Queamahoning Dam near the breast. Boat 605-8, Ambul 605-5, and Ambul 605-6 responded. Enroute to the scene Somerset County 911 contacted Boat 8 and advised them that they would be handling the call because 631 (Jerome) was having mechanical problems with there boat and would not be able to respond. 2nd call from the caller advised the patient made it to shore and was out of the water on Plank Rd. on the back side of the dam and advised Fire Dept. to cancel. All units returned to service at 12:26HRS. Stations 631, 621 and 640 assisted.   605-43

Motor Vehicle Accident with Injuries

   Thursday June 12th 11:56HRS: Dispatched with Medic 950 and Medic 902 for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Rt. 30 at 219 in Jenner Township. Ambul 605-6, Ambul 605-5, Engine 605-1, and Brush 605-3 responded. Ambul 6 arrived on scene to find 1 full sized Chevy pick up truck in the middle of Rt. 30 and a Chevy Trail Blazer off the road. Both vehicles had moderate front end damage. The Chevy Trail Blazer had moderate damage to the driver side. Ambul 6 provided patient care to the passengar of the chevy trail blaizer and was assisted by Medic 950. Medic 605-6 transported to Conemaugh Memorial Hospital.  Medic 902 took care of the refusals of the patients in the Chevy pick up truck. Later the patients in the Chevy pick up truck decided they wanted to be transported to Somerset Hospital by Ambulance. Ambul 5 transported 2 patients to Somerset BLS. Engine Crew and Fire Police handled Traffic Control until vehicles were removed from roadway by towing service. Engine crew removed debri from roadway. Crews returned to service at 13:09HRS.    Friday June 6th 16:02HRS: Trailer Fire, 153 First St. Seanor. District 621. Due to Tanker 4 being out of service Engine 605-1 responded. 605-1 was ordered to Stage at Seanor and Miller Picking. Motor Vehicle Accident

   Sunday May 25th 20:41HRS: Car vs Deer, SR 219 South of Rt. 30 in the North Bound Lane. Quemahoning Twp. Engine 1 and 2, Brush 3 and Ambul 6 and 5 responded and arrived on scene to find a mid sixed car off the roadway with the windshield smashed and a deer 10-7 in the ditch. All patients refused treatment. Ambul 6, Medic 950, Medic 902 handled the refusals. Engine 1and 2 and Fire Police handled traffic. All units returned to service at 21:11HRS. PSP assisted at the scene.   605-39

Tanker Assist

   Sunday May 25th 13:24HRS: Structure Fire, 151 Country Club Rd. Johnstown. District 610. Tanker 4 responded and Engine 1 followed behind for a possible fill site. 631 Chief had Command and arrived on scene advising no fire and to have all units respond reduced. Units with the exception of 610 and 631 were released by 631 Command. Engine 1 and Tanker 4 were in service at 13:48HRS.   605-38

Tree Down

   Tuesday May 20th 15:27HRS: Tree Down, in front of 259 Alwine Rd. in Jenner Township. Brush 605-3 responded and arrived on scene to find a large tree blocking the roadway. 605 LT contacted Jenner Township and asked them to bring down a front end loader to push the tree off the road. Brush crew cut up as much as they could of tree and the township took care of the rest by pushing the tree off the road.  Brush 3 was in service at 16:31HRS.      605-37

     

Motor Vehicle Accident with Ejection

   Sunday May 18th 03:29HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident, Million Dollar Hwy. in Jenner Township. District 606. Ambul 605-6 and Engine 605-1 responded and arrived on scene to find a car on its roof off the side of the roadway and to patients laying off the side of the road about 20ft apart from one another. 605 EMS crew attended to the 1 patient while 606 EMS provided patient care to the 2nd patient. 605-6 transported with Medic 902 (Somerset Ambulance Stoystown Station) and Abmul 606-3 transported with Medic 951 to Conemaugh Hospital.  Engine Crew assisted EMS with patient care and was then released by 606 command due to the car being off the side of the road. Engine Returned to service at 04:04HRS.    605-36

    

Debri on the Roadway

   Sunday May 11th 21:34HRS:  Debri on the Roadway, Alwine Rd. in Jenner Township. A PSP called in that there was a fence from a residence blowing out on the Rd. Brush 605-3 and Ambul 605-5 responded and arrived on scene to find a fence in the middle of the roadway. Crews removed the Fence and Debri and returned to service at 21:52HRS.   605-35

2 Trees Down

   Sunday May 11th 14:26HRS: Trees Down, Main St. Above the Water Tank. Engine 1 responded and arrived to find 1 tree partially blocking the roadway above the water tank. There was a 2nd tree partially blocking the roadway on Main St. approximately 1/2 mile from the other one. Crew removed the trees from the roadway and returned to service.  605-34 

Tractor Trailer Fire

   Wednesday May 7th 11:21HRS: Tractor Trailer Fire, Naugle Rd. in Quemahoning Township. Engine 605-1 and Tanker 605-4 were requested by 631 Command. Engine 1 & Tanker 4 rersponded. 631 Command advised they had knockdown and advised to have all incoming units respond reduced. 631 Command canceled Tanker 4 and advised Engine 1 to stage on the hard top on Naugle Rd. in case needed. Engine 1 was later released by 631 Command.  Engine 1 and Tanker 4 were in service at 11:50HRS. Boswell and Conemaugh Twp Fire Depts assisted Jerome.   605-33

Vehicle Fire

   Monday May 5th  12:20HRS: Vehicle Fire, 166 Commerce Dr. Jenner Township. Engine 605-1 and Brush 605-3 responded. Crews arrived on scene to find a mid sized car with heavy fire in the engine compartment. Crews pulled  a 2" hand line off the front bumper of Engine 1. Crew had the fire knocked down within 10 minutes. Engine 1 and Brush 3 were in service at 12:59HRS.   605-32

     

      

2nd Due Structure Fire

   Monday May 5th 08:09HRS: 2nd Due Structure Fire, 538 Lincoln Highway, Jennerstown. Across from the Greystone House. District 606. Engine 605-1 and Tanker 605-4 responded with a total of 6. Engine 1 was the first Engine in and 605 Asst. 1 assumed command. Engine crew pulled 1" 3/4 speed lay and advanced it to the delta side of the structure. Crew pulled another 1" 3/4 Speedlay and advanced it to the bravo side of the structure for the interior in the subdivision. Engine Crew entered the delta side of the 1 story wood frame structure and conducted a search of the interior on division 1 with heavy smoke conditions inside and no fire was found. Engine 1 connected LDH to Tanker 607-2 for additional water but was not needed. Engine crew made entry into the subdivision and found the fire source. Crew extuinguished the fire with a 1" 3/4 hand line. The wood burner lid was left open and a spark caught newspapers and magazines on fire by the wood burner. Tanker 4, Engine 607-4, Tanker 608-2 and Tower 643 Staged on Rt. 30 per 605 Command. Crews opened windows in the structure and setup positive pressure ventilation on delta side of the structure. Medic 902 (Somerset Ambulance Stoystown Station) was requested to the fire scene due to the homeowner having chest pains. The smoke was cleared from inside the structure and crews were released by 605 Command. Sipesville, Acosta and Ligioner Assisted. Physical Rescue

  Thursday May 1st 16:22: Physical Rescue, Susquehanna St.  Dispatched Fire and EMS with Medic 950 and PSP for a suicide attempt. Person Locked themselves inside a garage and in a vehicle with a hose running from the exhaust to the car. Patient was extricated from the garage before crews arrived on scene. Ambul 605-6 and  Engine 605-1 responded for ventilation. Ventilation was not needed and Engine 1 was released.  PSP arrived on scene and released 605-6 and Medic 950. PSP transported individual. Crews were in service at 16:52HRS.   605-30

Structure Fire with Possible Entrapment

   Tuesday April 29th 09:45HRS: Structure Fire with Possible Entrapment, 301 Sugar St. Hooversville. at the Holy Family Catholic Church. District 614. Engine 605-1 and Brush 605-3 responded. 614 personell arrived on scene and advised that there was no entrapment and there was heavy smoke showing Charlie side of the structure. Engine 1 was advised by 614 Command to access Sugar St. at  South St and tag the hydrant. Engine 1 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke comin from the rear of the structure.  Crew staged outside on the front lawn of the church. The fire was knocked down in an hour. Truck 3-2 ventilated the roof on the Charlie side of the Structure. Engine crew assisted with Overhaul. PSP Fire Marshal determined that a candle caught a cloth that was on the alter on fire. Engine 1, & Brush 3 were in service at 10:53HRS. First Due Structure Fire

   Monday April 28th 22:19HRS: Structure Fire, 978 Ralphton Rd.  Engine 605-1, Tanker 605-4, Brush 605-3, Ambul 605-6 responded. 911 advised Enigne 1 upon responding that there was a rug on fire and the residence was filled with smoke. Engine 1 arrived on scene to find smoldering materials inside the residence. Engine Crew found that the fire came through the floor in the one bedroom and burned the carpet. 605 Chief advised all incoming units to stage at 2 Mile Run Rd. and Trading Post Rd. Engine 1 connected to Tanker 4 using LDH. Engine crew pulled a 1 3/4 speedlay for precautionary reasons.  Engine Crew found that the fire started in the basement at the wood burner and burned the floor board that was above the wood burner. Engine Crew conducted search and overhaul in the burned poriton of the floor using a water can. Engine Crew used Thermal Imaging Cameras to detect hot spots. Engine Crew used Positive Pressure ventilation to clear the smoke from the residence. 605 Chief. released all units with the exception of Station 606. Crews were in service at 23:15HRS. Jennerstown, Acosta, Stoystown and Jerome assited.     605-28

      

Water Rescue Drill

   Sunday April 27th 2008 15:09HRS: Water Rescue, The Stonycreek River at the Intersection of Mill St. and River Ave.  Brush 605-3 responded with Boat 605-7.  Crews arrived on scene and found a trapped fisherman in the water. Crews went into the water and brought the fisherman out safetly. Brush 3 and Boat 7 were in service at 17:06HRS. Boswell, Jerome, Hooversville, Conemaugh Twp EMS and Fire Dept, assisted Hollsopple.   605-27 

Forest Fire

   Friday April 18 & Saturday April 19: Crews assisted Station 628, and The Department of Forestry with a Forest Fire in the Mountains of Fairhope. The fire was reported Thursday at 22:30HRS by CSX railroad employees. Crews let the blaze go over night due to dangerous conditions in the mountains. The Department of Forestry monitored the Fire over night.  A crew responded with Brush 605-3 in the evening Friday and returned at 04:30HRS Saturday morning. Approximately 450 acres burned throughout the mountain. Crews battled the blaze with two aircrafts one capably of dropping 100 galons of water at a time and another dropping 800 gallons of water, and  bulldozers to make fire lines to keep the fire from jumping. The aircrafts were filled up at the Somerset County Airport By Friedens Fire Department.  Another Crew responded down early Saturday Morning with Ambul 605-5. Several Somerset and Bedord County Fire Departments Assisted The Department of Forestry. Crews were in Service at Approximately 17:00HRS Saturday.     605-26

Woods Fire

   Wednesday April 16th 16:43HRS: Woods Fire, Sun Valley Rd. In  Laurel Mountain Village. District 606. 606 Asst. 1 responded direct and arrived on scene to find a woods fire spreading rapidly. The fire jumped a dirt road into another section of woods. 606 Asst. 1 made a special call for Brush 605-3, Tanker 605-4, and a Engine out of Sta. 43 Ligioner for water and manpower. Brush 3 and Tanker 4 responded fully crewed. Brush 3 arrived on scene to find fire on both sides of the dirt road in the woods. Brush Crew pulled 250 Ft. of 1" forestry line and 100 Ft. of booster line to quickly extuinguish the fire. Brush 3 used 400 gallons of water.  Brush 3 filled up from Tanker 606-4. Tanker 605-4 staged on top of the hill but was not needed. Crews from 606 had taken care of the bottom part of the woods with 1" 1/2 hose line. Crews made a fire line around the perimeter of the fire with rakes to keep the fire from spreading if it rekindled. Crews walked around in the woods with indian tanks extuinguishing hot spots. The fire burned approximately 2 acres 606 Asst. 1 called for Stations 608 and 607 for a tanker and manpower. 606 Asst. canceled 608 and 607 while they were enroute due to the fire being extuinguished. Brush 3 and Tanker 4 were in service at 17:38HRS. Boswell, and Ligioner assisted Jennerstown at the scene. Acosta and Sipesville were canceled enroute.   605-25

     

Motor Vehicle Accident with Injuries

   Monday April 7th 14:26: Motor Vehicle Accident with Injuries, Rt. 219 South Bound at the Rt. 30 Overpass. Ambul 605-6, Engine 605-1, and Brush 605-3 responded. Upon responding 911 advised Ambul 6 that Med Star 1 was placed on stand by. Ambul 6 arrived on scene to find 1 car in the middle of the road with major damage to the front end and a Penn Dot Tri Axle on the side of the road. The midsized car rear ended a Tri Axle Penn Dot Truck at approximately 60-65mph. The Driver in the Penn Dot Truck was uninjured. 605 Lieutenant advised Engine 1 to shut down 219. Traffic was diverted to the Rt. 30 off ramp until extrication was complete. 605 Lieutenant cancelled Med Star 1.  EMS Crew extricated the patient and transported in Ambul 6 with Medic 950 to Conemaugh Hospital.  Engine Crew and Fire Police remained on scene until towing service removed car from roadway.  Crews returned to Service at 15:26.   605-24

         

Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment (Trauma Arrest)

   Monday March 31st 17:05: Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment, Rt 219 in the South Bound Lane North of Rt. 30 just inside the Jenner Township Line. Engine 605-1, Brush 605-3, and Ambul 605-5 responded. Engine arrived on scene to find a Subaru Outback SUV rolled over an embankment. 1st arriving units advised Patient was in Trauma Arrest. A passer by Firefighter from Cumberland Maryland was passing through when the accident happened and he initiated CPR on the patient.  Engine 1 arrived on scene and patient was already extricated from the vehicle and loaded into the Ambulance. Engine crew assisted 631 with grid search for the patients belongings on the embankment from the roll over. Engine crew was released by 631 command. Hazmat Spill

    Wendsday March 26th 12:58HRS: Hazmat Spill, North Bound on ramp to Rt. 219 in Jerome. District 631. Special call for Engine 605-1 to pump water out of a creek approximately 1/2 a mile north of the accident. A milk truck over turned on the on ramp and spilled approximately 4,700 hundred gallons of milk. Crews began to quickly try and dam up the milk with LDH before it entered the drians but were unable to do so. Engine-1 responded and arrived on scene to go to a near by creek to pump milk out and spray it in the fields. The Driver of the truck was taken to Conemaugh Hospital for minor injuries. The on ramp was closed from 11-3pm. Engine was later released by 631 command.  601 hazmat team, 605, 621 assisted at the scene. Engine 1 was in service at 14:56 hrs.

   Saturday March 22 14:12HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident, Somerset Pike. District 631. Engine 605-1 and Brush 605-3 responded and shortly after was cancelled by 631 Command. All units returned to service at 14:19.   605-21

Furnace Fire in the 1st Due

   Wednesday March 12th 16:28HRS: Furnace Fire, 5138 Front St. Jenners, in Jenner Township.  Engine 605-1, Tanker 4 and Brush 3 responded. 911 advised Engine 1 that everyone was out the residence and that the fire was contained to the furnace. Engine 1 arrived on scene to find a smoke filled house. Engine Crew took a thermal imager into division 2  of the structure to check for extension in the walls. Crew found nothing. Engine crew setup positive pressure ventilation at the front door to clear the smoke out of the residence. The homeowner kept the fire contained to the furnace. The homowner also extuinguished the fire with buckets of water. The fire was electrical in nature. Wires to the furnace caught fire. 605 Command released all units. 605 units returned to service at 17:04. Somerset County Stations 606, 608, 631 assisted.  605-20

      

Tanker Assist

   Saturday March 9th 00:12HRS: Structure Fire, 117 School Rd. just off Ridge Rd. in Shade Township. Tanker 605-4 was resquested per 626 Command due to lack of tankers and no hydrants. Tanker 4 responded and arrived on scene to find the house fully involved. The fire started in the garage and then spread quickly to the house due to the high winds. Crews battled the blaze in 30-40 mph winds that were brutal and below freezing tempatures. 614 personell setup a fill site approximately 2 miles away on Miller Run Rd at a creek. Tanker 4 Shuttled 2 loads of water. The fire was knocked down in 1 1/2 hours.  Tanker 4 was later released by 626 Command. Tanker 4 returned to service at 04:06HRS. Somerset County Stations 605, 603, 604, 611, 614, 627 assisted 626. The State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.       605-19

   Monday March 3 15:46HRS: Structure Fire, Keafer Hill Rd. Johnstown. District 610. Tanker 605-4 responded. Tanker 4 was the 2nd truck into the scene. 631-1 was the first engine in and took command, and advised Tanker 4 to stage on Somerset Pike because of the Rd. being hazardous. 631-1 advised that it was a control burn . The homeowners advised that they called Cambria 911 Center and advised them that the fire was gonna be controlled but the message never got relayed to Somerset County 911. 631-1 released all units. Tanker 4 returned to service at 1600HRS. Somerset County Stations 605, 607 RIT, 619, 621, 631, and Cambria Stations 12, 20, 24 assisted .   605-18

Motor Vehicle Accident with No Injuries

   Thursday February 28th 09:06HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident with No Injuries, 219 North of Rt. 30 in the North Bound Lane. Ambul 605-6, 605-5 and Engine 605-1 responded. 605-6 arrived on scene to find 1 SUV on the berm of 219 with moderate damage to the front end.  The SUV lost control coming across the bridge, did a 360 and then hit the guide rail. The SUV was leaking anti freeze under the hood of the. Crews cleaned up the Anti Freeze with absorbant pads. 605-6 handled the refusal. Engine 1,  Ambul 605-5 and Fire Police handled traffic control until towing service removed car from berm. PSP assisted at the scene. All units returned to service at 10:04.   605-17 

     

Motor Vehicle Accident with Minor Injuries

   Thursday February 28th 07:51HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident with Minor Injuries, 219 South Bound Lane North of Rt. 30.  Ambul 605-6, 605-5 and Engine 605-1 responded. 605-6 arrived on scene to find 1 SUV and 1 police cruiser SUV off the roadway with moderate damage to the front end. 605-6 attended to the patient that was in the SUV by getting a refusal , Engine 1 and 605-5 handled traffic control before the bridge. SUV lost control coming across the bridge hit the guide rail then come across both lanes of traffic and hit a Conemaugh Township Police cruiser in the rear end. PSP assisted at the scene. Crews returned to service at 09:04.   605-16

   Monday February 25th 13:09HRS: Debri on the Roadway as a result of a Vehicle Accident, Main St at Roses Country Market. 605 LT. responded with Brush 605-3 and arrived on scene to find glass on both lanes off traffic. 605 LT. cleaned up glass from roadway. Brush 3 returned to service at 13:31.   605-15

   Friday February 22nd 06:56HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident, Rt. 219 North of Rt. 30 in the South Bound Lane just before Mile Marker 42. Engine 605-1 and Ambul 605-6 responded and arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle over an embankment due to adverse road conditions with nobody around the vehicle. PSP released all units due to no injuries and the vehicle being off the roadway. Somerset Ambulance Stoystown Station (902) assisted. All units were in service at 07:24HRS.   605-14

    Wendsday February 20th 03:17HRS: Smoke In a Structure, 490 Country Club Rd. Johnstown. District 610. Tanker 4 responded fully crewed. CTPD arrived on scene to find smoke conditions inside the residence but no fire.  610 Command had all units stage on Country Club Rd. Crews found the smoke source and turned out to be coming from a malfunctioning furnace. 610 Command later released all units. Tanker 4 was in  service at 03:59. Somerset County Stations 605, 607 RIT, 619, 621, 631, and Cambria Stations 12, 20, 24 assisted 610.   605-13

Smoke In a Structure

    Monday February 19th 23:07HRS: Smoke in a Structure, Sugar St. Hooversville Borough at The Holy Family Church. District 614. Engine 1 and Tanker 4 responded Fully Crewed. Engine 1 and Tanker 4 was told to stage at the Riverside parking lot on Barn St. Per 614 Command. The fire source was found by 614 and 604 crews and it was determined that boxes and some other items caught fire in a closet in the church and extuinguished itself. 614 Command later released all units at staging. Engine 1 and Tanker 4 returned to service at 23:44HRS. The State Police Fire Marshall is Investigating. Stoystown, Boswell, Hollsopple and Richland Twp. Fire Depts. assisted Hooversville.  605-12

Wires Down

    Wednesday February 13th 08:34HRS: Wires Down, Intersection of Mississippi St. and Hower Ave.  Brush 3 responded and arrived on scene to find 1 telephone line still connected to the pole and a house at 909 Hower Ave. on the road. Crew tied the wire off to a stop sign with rope and set up cones to block 1 lane of traffic until Verizon arrived on scene. Brush 3 returned to service at 09:13.    605-11

    Tuesday February 12th 18:13HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident, Rt. 219 North Bound South of Rt. 30.  Dispatched advised all units to use extreme caution due to hazerdous road conditions. Ambul 6, 5, Engine 1, and Brush 3 responded and arrived on scene to find 1 SUV off the side of the road and 2 cars on the road blocking 1 lane of traffic. 605 Commander cancelled Medic 950 due to all patients refusing treatment and transport. 605-6 handled all the refusals. Engine crew handled traffic control until tow truck removed cars that were not driveable off the roadway. PSP assisted at the scene. All units were in service at 18:14HRS.    605-10

Flooded Basement

     Wednesday February 6th 16:06HRS: Flooded Basement, 615 Quemahoning St. Brush 3 responded non emergency and arrived on scene to find approximately 6 inches of water in the basement. Crew placed trash pump in the basement and pumped out as much water as they could until the pump would not pick up water. Brush 3 returned to service within 40 minutes.   605-08

    

Structure Fire

   Friday February 1st 21:05HRS: Structure Fire, 1029 Barn St. Hooversville. District 614. Engine 1 and Brush 3 responded fully crewed. 604 Chief arrived on scene and advised heavy smoke conditions inside the residence. The Fire started in the flue and spread inside the walls that surrounded the fire place and spread upward in the walls into the bathroom, sunporch and to the roof. Engine Crew arrived on scene and provided fire suppression and started gaining access with other crews into the walls and roof. Crews found fire in the wall behind the fire place and were able to stop it before it spread any further. Both occupants of the residence were taken by ambulance to Somerset Hospital by Somerset Ambulance (902) for smoke inhalation. Stoystown, Boswell and Hollsopple assisted Hooversville at the scene. Engine 1 & Brush 3 were in service within 2hrs and 25 min.   605-07

       

Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment

    Friday February 1st 14:15HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment, Top of Main St. Ambul 605-6, 5, Engine 1 and Brush 3 responded. 605 Captain responded direct and arrived on scene to find 1 full sized F-150 pick up truck off the roadway into a tree with severe damage to the front passengar side of the truck and  1 patients legs trapped under the dash. 605-6 arrived on scene and provided patient care. 605 Captain called for Attack 604-2 to assist with extrication. 605 & 604 Crew handled extrication. Patient was extricated to ambulance and was transported with Medic 950 to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Fire Police handled traffic control until tow truck removed car from side of roadway. Crews returned to service within 1HR.   605-06

Motor Vehicle Accident with Minor Injuries

  Thursday January 17th 14:27HRS: Motor Vehicle Accident with Minor Injuries, Main St. Near Rt. 30.  Ambul 605-6 and Engine 1 responded fully crewed. Ambul 605-6 arrived on scene to find 2 cars off the roadway. Engine 1 stopped before the curve on Main St and set up flares to slow traffic down. 605 commander called for 1 additional BLS unit out of Jennerstown (606). Ambul 605-6 crew attended to a female patient with a head injury. 605-6 Cancelled 606 due to them not being needed. Ambul 605-6 transported 1 patient BLS to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for evaluation. Engine 1 stayed on scene until both cars were removed from off the side of the roadway. Engine 1 returned to service within 30 minutes.   605-04

  Friday January 11th 20:47HRS: Tree Down, Ralphton Rd. Brush 3 responded fully crewed, arrived on scene to find a large tree across the roadway blocking both lanes of traffic. Crews removed tree from roadway. Brush 3 returned to service.   605-03

2 Calls Within a Minute Apart

   Tuesday January 8th 17:48HRSSmoke in a Structure, at a trailer on Sales Dr. in Stonebridge Gardens Trailer Court ( formely  Gordons Trailer Court). District 604. Engine 1 and Tanker 4 responded fully crewed. Engine 1 arrived on scene but was released by 604 Command shortly after. Turned out to be steam coming from a Malfunctioning Hot Water Heater. All units were cancelled per 604 Command.    605-02

Tuesday January 8th 17:47HRS:  Motor Vehicle Accident, SR 219 Northbound 2 miles South of the Jerome Exit, 605-6,5 and 3 responded. 605-6 arrived on scene to find 1car and a 1 ton pick up truck.The truck was off the roadway into to the bank, and the car was in the slow lane blocking traffic. 605-6 and 640-4 handled the refusals. 605-5 was cancelled  by 605 Commander. 605-3 stayed on scene with 631 and handled cleanup and traffic control. 605-6 returned into service. All units were later released and returned to service.
